They say when the kid is 4 Ft 9 inches. I think it is silly. It is not a law yet here in Iowa so I let my 6 (almost 7) yr old ride w/ a seat belt in the back seat only. I let him out of the booster seat back in March. I think it is silly to make a 10 yr old ride in a booster, my nephew is 10 and is not that tall yet. Some grown ups are only 5 ft tall.

back, it relies upon on the seat. They do make highback boosters for those human beings whose little ones are better than widely used with a 5 element harness, cosco has some out, i've got considered them the two at Wal-mart and biglots for approximately 35 funds. My daughter outgrew her toddler seat at 9 months previous so we had to bypass to a rear dealing with convertible seat, which we had to teach around at 11 months because of the fact it grew to become into greater risky for her legs to be tucked as much as her chest. She's 19 months now and is only too enormous for the convertible seat inspite of the reality that it stages to 40 lbs, she's too tall, her head stands out, it is risky. There are people who say I might desire to bypass spend 4 hundred funds i don't have on yet another convertible carseat, yet after discussing it with the pediatrician we've desperate we are going with a highback booster seat with a 5 element harness. it relatively is going to finally grow to be a common booster with the seatbelt, till she's too tall for that, and then we are able to bypass to the 15 greenback booster. My daughter has ridden in a seat belt in basic terms booster and did only effective, inspite of the reality that for my piece on strategies we are going to proceed to apply the 5 element as i do no longer choose her hiking out of her seat if she's no longer in the temper for a journey, lol. however the final weight and top for a highback booster is 22-60 lbs, and 34 to fifty seven inches in top besides as 2-3 years of age. My brat is 32 lbs and 36 inches. For a noback booster its 4 years of age, 40 lbs and 36 inches tall. solid success!

The absolute bare minimum is 40lbs and 4 years, but the longer you can harness the better. There are seats that harness to 65-80lbs now. Be sure to read your manual.
It is also about maturity: kids need to be able to sit correctly each and every time. They can't lean over to pick something up, keep the shoulder belt on their shoulder and not slump if they fall asleep.

you should check the laws and long as he fits into the booster and the seat belt is not cutting into his neck and it is in the proper spot he should be ok.my daughter ways 47 lbs and i put her in the booster when she weighed 40 lbs., she had the height to fit securely in it.

Well my daughter is 7 and is very small and still fit's in a carseat so she's still in a carseat. You should keep the child in the seat for as long as you can and that's what i'm doing.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, Don't use these types of booster seats, I have been told by the professionals that I get to install my car seat that these type of boosters are very dangerous, something about they raise the child up to an adult level, but don't protect their head or neck ( I'm not 100% on the excact reason why) Please invest in a full size booster seat if you value your child's safety.
