We have a chronically sick child and two healthy children. We love them all and are doing everything we can for them. But we feel like we are going crazy. Anyone else out there having that same problem? What do you do about it?

My son is only 6 months old but he seems bored sometimes. He loves to be around other kids, but there's no kids he can play with around here, only at daycare. Is he more likely to become a loner if he just plays by himself or if I need to get things done around the house and let him play by himself?

I have three boys 2,4,11. My husband and I have always had family to watch our children when we went out, but recently we moved away from our family. We have never had to pay a babysitter before, and we are not sure what we should pay them.
In the community where we are now living there is a program through the High School. The kids are raising money for a class trip to Washington, so we decided to use them, they babysit in pairs, and they say the rate is up to us, We don't want to be cheap and we don't want to go over board either. We asked them what they other parents usually pay them, but they wouldn't tell us. We have used them once for a couple of hours and they seem to be good with my kids and my kids like them. We paid them five dollors a piece an hour and then my husban gave them each five a piece for their pockets. Does that sound right, my mom says we paid them do much, and I'm worried we didn't pay enough,

I would love to be able to stay at home with my daughter and raise her, but I am not able to due to being a single mom and finances. I wonder if any other moms feel the same?

My son smells like maple syrup when he sweats and I don't know why. Has anyone else heard of this? His sheets smell like syrup after just one night sleeping in them, I don't know if I should bring this up to his doc or not as he's always been like this and he's now almost 6.

Ok, the reason I put this question in this section is because most of you are mom's and know what you like to recieve for gifts for your birthday. First off, some feed back. My mom just had a baby 4 months ago (heehee she is 40 and I am 18 yrs older than my lil bro..how funny right) I am currently 16 weeks pregnant..My mom has been awesome. Soo supportive, let me move back in and kinda hide under her wing while I was going through some rough times & slowly help me get back on my feet. She just out of the blue said hey our family is growing..were getting a new house lol..and my baby has his or her own room.(dont know what I am having yet) Her birthday is coming up on the 15th of this month & unfortunately I dont have a lot of money to spend but I want to get her something she will enjoy, appreciate & that will not only be a birthday gift but also a "hey mom your awesome" present lol..What do you all think I should get, make or put together? Thanks ahead of time

My grade 2er has been getting into trouble at school lately. Nothing of a very serious nature, stuff like not listening, disturbing the class, not returning from bathroom breaks cause he stopped to play on the way back to class etc. Like i said, nothing BAD, more annoying. Regardless his teacher and bus driver are finding it annoying so we have to confront it. We talk, explain, give concequences, remove privledges, pray for the best. The next day he does it again. ANY IDEAS!!!!!! Oh yes, and he's charming., and he knows it.

Someone to learn from me and continue my philosophy? The continuance of my genes? What’s the use of any of that? Just write a decent book and you’ll have many more followers than you could ever have children. Undying love? That’s doubtful! Someone to take care of you when you’re old? Unlikely since I’ll be in some retirement home with no privacy or self-respect. With some stranger paid by the state wiping my butt. Which might be preferable to having your kid do it? If it’s just a sacrifice, then why bother, if the kid is supposed to grow up and make money for the family, including you, then that might be something? He has to pay back everything, from before he was born, for years of effort to raise him, schooling, &c. His job is to get an education, grow up safely and rationally, get a job, excel and advance, and pay you back. If you don’t tell him that or insist upon it, then you’ve failed as a parent? What am I missing?

I've had my red Cutlass since i was 16. I'm a twin, so my sis got like a cute little VW bug, but I went for the classic!!!
I'm 19 now and as I was buckling my 2 month daughter into the back seat this morning.... I thought, "wow, I should really get a minivan/SUV."
Is there anyway to come back from this??? I don't want to be the "soccer mom" i want to be the "cool mom".

Do you use binkys too??? Have you ever had a problem with the breastfeeding and using a binky? With my son, I didn't use a binky for the first month and then gave him one and he never took to it! My breasts were his binkys. Now I am 6 months along with our 2nd son and we have a very active 3 year old son who weaned 7 months ago from my breasts. And I know I can have our son on my breasts all the time. I was just wondering if it would be a good idea on using a binky and what kind of binky should I get.

Thanks!
Jennifer

Also what do you think about a double stroller. My 3 year old son is not a good walker. He will just run ahead and won't say with me. He still uses the stroller when we go to the mall or to pet trade shows ( Hubby & I own a pet store in N. Ca.) What do you think?

I have noticed a lot of people on here who are stay at home mothers like to talk trash about working mothers.

I have read this on here:

Why are you paying someone else to raise your child?

God says that a mother's place is at home raising her children! (Bible Thumpers)

Why doesn't your husband get two jobs so you can stay home?

You shouldn't have children if you plan to put them in daycare!

Is this crazy to anyone else? Just because you are staying home doesn't mean you are doing your child a favor! You can be sitting at home ignoring your kid or yelling at your kid. Same goes for working moms, just because you work doesn't mean you are not raising your child.

Why can't SAHM back off? Not everyone is so lucky to afford to live on one income alone. I make a lot of money, but I also live in California and own a home so my wife will have to work part-time. I could sell my home and live in a shack and then my wife can stay home 24/7 but what good is that?

I wanted to hear form families with autistic children. Did you continue to have children after your child was dx? And if so, what was the outcome? Did you have another child with autism?

We have had a huge growth in african childrens where I live. Most of the parents do not speak english and don't/or ack like they don't understand anything we are saying. We have tried asking them to ask to use our outdoor toys before taking them. They continue to not listen, they disapear and get broken. I live in a place where we don't have indoor storage. I understand where they came from things were considered for the community so I have tried to be understanding. I just saw a boy on one of my daughters bikes and he was riding it into the side of someones car!!! When I tried speaking to his mother she made out like she couldn't understand. They wander all over with no supervision. Who should I contact to get some help? I don't think its a matter police could help in at this point.
