Do you use binkys too??? Have you ever had a problem with the breastfeeding and using a binky? With my son, I didn't use a binky for the first month and then gave him one and he never took to it! My breasts were his binkys. Now I am 6 months along with our 2nd son and we have a very active 3 year old son who weaned 7 months ago from my breasts. And I know I can have our son on my breasts all the time. I was just wondering if it would be a good idea on using a binky and what kind of binky should I get.

Thanks!
Jennifer

Also what do you think about a double stroller. My 3 year old son is not a good walker. He will just run ahead and won't say with me. He still uses the stroller when we go to the mall or to pet trade shows ( Hubby & I own a pet store in N. Ca.) What do you think?

A lot of breastfed babies won't take a pacifier, your new baby may or may not like it.
Mine sure didn't from birth.

I have two children. A boy who is 2 years and 5 months, and a daughter who is 10 months. I breastfed my son until I was 6 months pregnant with my second child. ( he was 15 months old.) He never took a Binky either, because as in your case, my breast was his Binky as well.

I was very worried that when my daughter came that my son would have issues with him wanting to breastfeed again as it had only been 3 months since he had been weened. I only had a couple of instances where he wanted to breastfeed and when I offered he told me NASTY!

Anyways, with having a small child and a newborn it is a good idea to introduce the Binky to your second child. There will be times that you will have to tend to your 3 year old before you will be able to sit and breastfeed your newborn and to pacify the baby with the Binky might make it less stressful on you. My daughter started taking a Binky once in a while and it kept her occupied. If I had to situate my son I could give her the Binky and she would be content for another ten minutes or so and I could finish. I did not have any problems with nipple confusion, and she is not attached to the Binky.

I commend you on breastfeeding your babies! As you already know it takes a lot of time and patients, but it is best for our babies!! Neither of my children have had a drop of formula!! =)

I can't remember where but I read somewhere that breastfed babies don't often take a binky. They have to suck so much and so hard to get milk from the breast that their sucking needs are met so they don't need a binky.

Bottle fed babies don't get to suck as much so they need to suck on a binky for comfort.

My son is 20 months old, still breastfeeding and has never taken a binky. And I'm SOOO glad! I see so many 2+ year olds walking around with plugs in their mouth I'm so glad I never had to worry about the 'take the paci away' drama.

Is a binky a dummy? If so I don't see any harm in them. I used Nuk as they were shaped right for the mouth and didn't push on the teeth.
I breastfed my children for 10 months. My first stopped breast feeding at 9 months because I was pregnant with my second. He went on to sucking a dummy. My other fed up to 10 months which is more than adequate. The second had no dummy at all.
I personally believe that over 12 months you are a live dummy to that child and breast feeding is of no benefit to them at all except that you are their comfort.
But each to their own and if you don't mind then carry on but you are making a cross for yourself.

The double stroller is not such a good idea as they are expensive and the children grow out of them quickly and they are awkward as they don't get through all gate ways etc. I would opt for a single stroller and a carry pouch for the baby that leaves your hands free if your son decides he wants to walk a little and you can hold his hand.

Binky was good for my twins while bf'ing - I didn't like being a human pacifier.

We also have a double stroller, but mine are the same age. I think a stroller is a good way to keep an older child safe.

Ok i think you mean that you are still pregnant with your second, right? The American Academy Of Pediatrics reccomends that babies use a binky when sleeping to reduce the risk of SIDS.

Wait 3 weeks, to get breastfeeding established, then introduce a pacifier...the kind is not really important. It's not that your son didn't want it, he just didn't learn how to use it. It was a different shape, texture and size than your breast, he just needed practice and (your patience) to learn how to use it.

DOUBLE STROLLERS are great! I reccomend the Graco Duoglider!

My babies (who were breastfed) took binky's as well. I had to force it on my oldest because he was using me as a binky and it was really screwing up my milk. I use the NUK binky's because they are wider and more like the breast. Use the binky. Some babies need to suck more than others.

I have the peg perego arial twin stroller and i love it. It is worth every penny.

I breastfed all 3 of my girls. Baby 1 untill 13m, Baby 2 untill 10 months, and baby 3 untill 18m. I used the Nuk style binkis from birth.

Double strollars are great. I use a sit and stand style. My older children can rest/sit and the baby gets the front.

I nursed three...first one loved binkies and was a good nurser. They actually gave it to him at the hospital without asking. He had mostly nuks but the original one was different. He didn't care and I had no trouble nursing with him. The other two...one a thumb guy and the other sucked his two middle fingers. All nursed primarily and dad occasionally fed a bottle, when I was gone, of pumped milk. They were all introduced to a bottle at the recommended 7 weeks. Which they say doesn't interfere with latching on and learning to nurse, but isn't too far down the road to reject a bottle. Didn't try binkies with second two. I preferred the built in ones on their hands!! We seemed to forever lose them with child number one and were always hunting them down.

I breast fed all my children,i had twins my last pregnancy and i did end up using a binky for one of them and she loved the one that they gave me at the hospital,it was green and had a vanilla scent,i'm not sure if all hospitals give out the same binky. They have them at the baby depot, its a nipple with no back on it it's like the bottle nipple.

You just have to wait and see if your new baby will like it or not. I never tried very hard to get mine to take one. I would have loved it if they would have used one in the car, but it didn't work. Other than that, I was fine with them coming to me for comfort nursing. After all, the "dummy" (pacifier) is a substitute for mom, not the other way around!

Instead of a double stroller, but your oldest in a regular stroller if needed and wear the baby in a sling.
