Well, i've known my stepbrother ever sense i was a baby...He had a daughter three years ago. She is so cute. I love her to death. But something went on and i guess we started feuding..I love her with all my heart. I haven't seen her in 6 months..I have done nothing to my brother. He doesn't like my mom ( which is his mom!)...His wife is very controlling and is very convincing ( I never liked her)... Do u think it is fair if my niece is not able to see her aunts and uncle????!!?

Help! Yesterday, 9-y.o. daughter didn’t want to wear a certain green shirt because “its too thin and they show.” She took off the shirt, put on an undershirt/camisole and then she put the shirt on top. But she was frustrated that “they still show!”

Honestly, I wasn’t sure if she was referring to her breasts (which evidently have started to protrude in the smallest possible way) or something else. So I asked as gently as I could, “please forgive me if I haven’t noticed something that’s obvious, but what are you talking about? What shows?”

She didn’t say anything but she seemed embarrassed and so I offered “is it your breasts?” and she said yes. I asked what would make her more comfortable. She suggested a thicker shirt. I said ‘good idea’ and off she went. Whew.

Now, I feel like I need to talk with her, and I would appreciate suggestions on the kinds of things that I should tell her about her body, as well as how I should go about getting undergarments for her. TIA.

We live in Tennessee, so the weather is still nice. I have two daughters, the oldest turns 4 at the end of the month and one that is almost 21 months. They LOVE to play outside. I usually use Avon skin-so-soft bug guard plus. The blue kind that disappears. It is sunscreen plus bug repellent. But the past week they have been ate up by mosquitoes. Is there anything else that would work better?
I have used the disappearing stuff all summer, and it has worked , but now it isn't! Help, my kids look like they have chicken pox!

Is my boyfriends adult daughter too attached to her dad?

Hi. I've been dating this lovely man for about two years now. However his adult daughter seems not to think much of me. She's been cold to me for as long as I've known her. On the other hand I'm wondering if my boyfriends relationship with his daughter is a little bit too close. For ex.,

1. She's 25 yrs old and still calls her father daddy

2. They call each other every day and talk for about 30-45 minutes

3. She tells him everything

4. Her job requires her to be on her feet alot so she'll often come to her dad house and he'll rub her feet while they talk about their day.

I overheard my 15 year old daughter lying to a friend over the phone ,saying that I I work full time downtown. In actuality,I am a stay at home mom of 4--of her and her 3 brothers, ages 7(who is autistic),11,and 12.
I asked her about this, and she would not answer me-- she only complained that I was 'listening in' on her conversation.

I have just started seeing my seven year old daughter for the first time since she was born. I have seen her three time once for an evening about 6 hours, once for saturday and sunday, and once from friday night through sunday night. Today I got a call from social services stating there was a child protection referral made which I knew about from talking to her mom. Her mom has checked herself in to a mental hospital to get help with her bi-polar disorder. My daughter has gone to stay with her uncle for the time being. My question is in the state of Colorado can I legaly pick her up for the weekend and not return her since there is no court orderd custody and would this be the appropriate thing to do? Any thoughts or advice would be appriciated.

Your mom offers to take the kids over night - Harray!
You spcifically tell her not to take your kids around her husbands dog, who has bitten people in the past, ( including yourself! 120 lbs Rought)
She does it anyway! She slips and accedentally tells you how the dog licked your sons face. I'm furious!
What would you do?

I have been very fortunate to be able to stay home with my daughter for the first year of her life. Financially we can not afford it anymore and I have an opportunity to go back to work where I was employed before my daughter was born.

I've been looking into daycares and I have found one that I am in love with. I'm going through the application and they want a $50 registration fee which will also be due every Sept. and my daughter's social security number. Do most daycares require the $50 registration fee, I haven't come across one yet that does and why would they need her social security number?

fathers fam has always been halfass abt my son but i always tried to be freindly with them. when i met my current partner he said i need to stop contact w/them to let them do the work in having a rel w/my son which i have done. i guess in a way i just feel bad for my son b/c it is awkward to have parents that dont talk. my parnter says i need to just tell my son that his dad wasnt nice to me & thats why we dont talk. its a touchy issue but i know that if i want an improved bond w/my son i need to be truthful but i dont wnt to come across nasty eithier. i would find it easier to be friendly w/the dads fam as opposed to having animosity but i know they really used me and are more into themselves.they havent made any effort really to talk to my son after i stopped having my son call them. its very hard to have children w/people u dint love when you are young! my partner thinks b/c of my guilt i can be a bad parent at times.its very hard as i have made many mistakes having babe @ 19 yrs.

My son will be 21soon. He totaled out his 1992 Truck, thank God he is alive and that is all great . I co-signed for his new 2005 PT Cruiser and he made 6 payments and then defaulted and naturally I got stuck with the payments and just couldn't handle paying for three New cars on my income. So I sold it. I told him I would give him my 2006 Mazda Tribute if he gets a job and keeps a job. Now he has a girlfriend that neither works or has a car. I never give up the Ship, but damn, what in Hell goes on in the mind of a teenager? I'm really fed up at this point. He hasn't even been home for three days, no calls damn he could be dead in ditch somewhere God Forbid...any advice from other parents with similar adolescent problems? I also suggested once he join the Airforce like I did when I was his age, but he doesn't want to do that so I'm out suggestions.

My husband and I went to the movies the other night. We saw Jackass Number 2. We looked over and seen that this woman brought her kids. Ages ranged from 4-10. 3 boys.

They were showing horror previews and the content of Jackass WAS NOT appropriate for them to watch! I can't believe the movie theater let the woman in there with those kids. The youngest couldn't have been much older than my daughter. He had to have been between 4-5 years old. I was outraged, so was my husband!

Would you ever let your child in to see a movie like that?

My two year old is very aggressive at home, she will bite, hit, pinch, etc. My husband and I have talked with her day care teacher and she doesn't do that kind of stuff there. We make a point to put her in time out now thinking she was hitting because we spanked her. She can be the most loving child with kisses and hugs for everyone then turn around and go after you like an wild animal for no reason with no warrning. I'm not sure what to do to control her, I feel as if we have tried everything. Please help!

With computers, video games, and cell phones, I often wonder if are children are being ignored. I see kids that are disrespectful and rude and I just have to wonder if it is because mom and dad do not have the time and just throw them in front of the computer and video games. Isn't it time we get back to being a family?

I just don't understand why people are still hung up on people being married before they have kids. Do you feel this way? Why do some people think is necessary? Do people honestly think just because two people are married they somehow make better parents? In a world where it is uncommon to actually wait to have sex until marriage--why does it matter?

I was going through my daughter's underwear drawer the other night and her favorite pair was missing. I remember because it was a hot-pink striped thong her mom and I gave her for her 13th birthday. Well, I knew I didn't take them and the other kids are too small to reach her drawer. So, I went to my 17 year old son and I just asked him straight out if he took them. Well, he looked at me and said, "Yeah Dad, I did it." He is such an honest boy. How can I reward him for being so good?

I leave the kids shows on even after I drop them off at school, or they are down for a nap. I feel like I don't want to subject myself to the junk on the news or regular adult t.v. I think PBS and Noggin could teach us all a little something that we may have let go of throughout the years. Who agrees? Basic decency and respect, let's bring it back.
