With computers, video games, and cell phones, I often wonder if are children are being ignored. I see kids that are disrespectful and rude and I just have to wonder if it is because mom and dad do not have the time and just throw them in front of the computer and video games. Isn't it time we get back to being a family?

It's a result of less live human interaction. Some children lose grammar skills because of the abbreviations they always use on chatlines. They misplace their priorities; if they're on a chatline with a friend from school, they'd never think about being rude but with you there live in front of them, they mouth off.

I think it's also a result of legislation regarding child discipline, everyone knows now kids can call 911 and get you in trouble, even if you're innocent. In fact, the government has made us all more like siblings of our children rather than parents because of these laws. Children know they can call 'big brother' and get you in trouble.

What the children unfortunately fail to realize is that they can be removed from the home and possibly never see their parents again, at least not without a long, drawn-out court fight and thousands of dollars on legal fees.

I believe you can integrate it together. Its easier to get them doing family things when you start them at a young age. In a sense there will be less resilience. But the technology is great for young children too. Like Leap Frog. It could be that children are being ignored, but I think the parents need to step up and make boundaries.

I couldn't agree more. Parents use technology as an excuse for education. Too many times have I heard..."She loves watching the discovery channel--it's good for her" or "He's learned a lot from his computer game--it's educational." Yes, I think using technology for education is great--but too many people are using it as a substitute. To many people rely on cell phones--even to call someone downstairs when they are upstairs. Sure, I let my kids watch TV. Sure my kids use technology to occupy themselves while I'm doing something like cleaning--but I don't sit them on there all day and then use the "it's educational" excuse. Call me old-fashioned but nothing is more educational then a trip to the zoo, aquarium, or local museum. Nothing is better then reading a book with mom or dad about Egyptians. I think technology gives us all an excuse to ignore our kids. We think we are doing them better by letting them use it but then end up doing more harm. Sorry--it's kind of long but I agree with you!

My kids are 4 and 5, and they often use alot of technology. Like the t.v. and the computer, and stuff like that. But we have family nights and do family things. I think it all had to do with what the kid wants to do.

this college is a fraud!! There accreditation potential no longer something to employers! listed here are the hidden "gotchas": they are able to checklist megastar employers all day long and job placement possibilities all day long. certainty is, human beings ask and concentration on the incorrect information. what's the final sales of graduates who earned jobs AFTER graduating from the school. no longer people who basically basically have been given a job as a $10 an hour area time job that is composed of technologies some how. They manage "job placement" numbers with the aid of which includes people who have been already employed till now they began college, temp positions earned at time of commencement, very low paying-get entry to point positions (as an occasion a graduate who takes a place as a utility salesmen at Fry's electronics) and counts them as "employed of their field" at commencement. Its incorrect and deceptive! i understand I labored there for years!! Its pondering the money. They unfastened as many pupils out the back door, as are available in throughout the front door! yet another sturdy question to ask is: "how lots of the instructors at the instant coaching on the campus have labored extra suitable than a million 12 months in the attitude field they're coaching? while i replace into there final - no longer ONE MULTIMEDIA instructor HAD labored EVEN sometime in the sphere. maximum instructors had performed no longer something extra suitable than graduated those days from the school themselves- and have been employed at commencement to come back in and teach - additionally MANIPULATING " job PLACEMENT NUMBERS!!!!
