I notice some people are being offended by "Substitiute Mom" it was the first phrase that came to mind I think of it like a teacher who needs a day off or something along those lines. I don't want to replace anybody just be there to lend a helping hand so parents can focus on the fun things about parenting, not the humdrum. I love helping others and feel there should be someone parents can contact if they need a little assistance.

we have a company in maine called rent-a-husband. They do the chores the hubby never gets around to. It's very successful. If people get offended by Sub Mom, why not Rent a Mommy--when Mommy is to busy to do the "little" things. I think it's a great idea. Be careful noone steals your idea on here though!! Good luck!

You know, that's not the first time I've heard that idea. You didn't happen to spend 12 hours on the phone with me for tech support, did you?
Anyway, I think this would work best in a college town. That way, all of the lost little freshmen lambs could have a mom until they find their feet.
Also, you'll want to make it clear that this is not a kinky thing. Cos, you know... people are into that stuff. Unless you're into that stuff, in which case, you'll make a lot more money.

I would never take my kids to a business who had a name like that.
Mothers do not want to be replaced. We need help, yes. We need someone to watch our children, when we are forced to go back to work. But - we never want to be replaced, or told by anyone that we can be.

Is that like babysitting? You might want to reconsider the name of the business, parents are not thrilled to be replaced by a substitute.
Good luck.

sounds great, first figure out your target market..age,demographics,etc..and focus and work only in that area you choose..if you want to make it you have to stay away from the market that considers you a babysitter..so go for the folks with the $$$
