Last year my son was in 3rd grade. He was really bad about not turning in homework obviously during the last semester, because during the last semester his report card would be really bad and when I called his teacher she would tell me he was missing alot of assignments. He would also have disapline marks on it as well. She would never address these with me ahead of time so that I could deal with the situation before it affected his grades and report card. It seemed to me that after not turning in papers for a week or so, she would have contacted me. But she waited until about 3 days before the end of the six weeks to tell me he was going to fail the six weeks if he didn't do about 15 assisgnments in 2 days. I wonder if I should address this with his new teacher to make sure she tells me early on if my son is doing this again, instead of waiting to the very end of the six weeks

old son has longer hair, curly. He wears boys clothes THAT look like boys clothes and wears BOYS shoes that are clearly not for girls.
Yet some really stupid ppl think he is a girl, even after calling him a he.
Do you get this if you son has long hair...I wonder if Kate Hudson has to deal with this.

This is not a debate over whether or not teachers are overpayed, so please don't respond if you are going to give me that arguement. I personally dont know anything about teachers salaries. My question is about the supplies that parents are being made to buy. I have noticed that some of the supplies seems to be things for the teachers : dry erase markers, red marking pens, etc. And some seem to be in abundance: 3 packs of pencils, 2 boxes of crayons. I would think that these things would be sent as they run out, but my son said that last year he had to put most of the supplies I bought him in a bulk box so that they could be shared. This seems like I am buying supplies for my son and any other students who needs them, as well as for the teacher. I thought that the school provided the teachers with this stuff. Am I wrong?

My son is 5 years old, he is going to start kindergarden in August. My son is hipED not getto but dress like an older kid and name brand clothes and shoes with long braids but he has both of his ears pierced. He will be attending a private school this year, and there's not alot of mix kids there. Will they pick on him because of his piercing? He had wanted! If he come home and say he want to take it out, should I? Or teach him to be his self?

For those of you who do not vaccinate your children, why didn't you? Also, have you ever felt pressure to do so from your pediatrition or had a bad experiance while in the emergency room dealing with this? Thanks for your stories.

When I was a child my mother didn't have my ears pierced until I was old enough to ask to get them done, which was around 7. Even then she made arrangements with the store to have 2 employees with piercing guns do both ears at the same time. Very good thing, cause I probably wouldn't have done the second ear otherwise. I have decided to do the same with my daughter, get them done if and when she asks me to. Reason why I ask this is because I saw a woman and her husband at Wal-Mart yesterday getting their small baby's ears pierced. I was horrified when I heard that little baby scream. Why do parents do this at that age? I know that a baby or small child can't be asking for their ears to be pierced. It seems like the parents are doing it for their own reasons, like having people comment about how cute it looks. Is this why some parents are doing this? It seems very cruel to put a baby through unneccesary pain just for beauty.

I know many mothers of multiple young children who manage to find 5 or 10 minutes for themselves to look presentable. Why do some stay-at-home-moms constantly complain about how they have no time to wear something other than sweats, to eat responsibly, and to exercise a little? Somehow working people, who are stuck in an office for 8 hours-a-day manage to do these things and also take care of their children. How come these mom's can't and then expect us to pity them?

I mean, people say it costs like $500 a week for a normal healthy baby. Well, assuming a baby shower will take care of all the clothes for the first few months, grand parents giving all the toys (bibs, bottles), theres, food, diapers, medical bills, pictures....what else? We're just trying to get an idea of what to expect. Isnt $500 a week a bit much?

Are there any stay at home moms that are doing work from jobs? I am looking for a job that will allow me to work from home. I am not really interested in cold-calling, or surveys, or party planning. I am just looking for a real job.

She's supposed to keep it neat herself, of course, but left it trashed. Last time she did this I made the bed and picked up and washed laundry but didn't touch the books/toys/craft supplies that were all over the place, and she seemed hurt when she came back and it was still messy. Her dad, my ex-husband, is obsessively neat and tells the children all the time that I'm a slob, so I don't want to reinforce that idea in her head, but I also don't want her to think I'm her servant, and for her to learn to be responsible for her things. But again, I want her to know how much I love her and missed her. And I bought her a lava lamp while she was gone, and it would look really neat in a freshly-cleaned room (or should I help her clean the room when she gets back and then surprise her with the lamp as a reward?)

It said "I had a weird dream last night.. I dreamt that I was in the African Safari. I saw monkeys, and lions, and antelope! My family and I were watching a a herd of rhinos. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw something so huge, and it made the rhinos run away. I began getting really scared, then i just realized that it was Edna." Isn't that the strangest thing? Should I be worried for her?

I'm 26.I'm not married(a widow).I have 3 children - 2 girls, ages 10 and 4 and a boy,age 7.My and my dead husband's parents and relatives are in Europe(I live in the states).I don't have anyone to leave the kids for a few days.I have to go on an interview for a really good job,but it's in Spain and I can't get the kids with me.I don't have a reliable friend to leave them to be looked after and I can't get a baby-sitter,because here baby-sitters are too expensive to get.I ask if I can leave them at home for 3 days, while I'm in Spain. The oldest is 10 years old and she is really responsible for her age.If I give her some money and instructions what to do(and of course my cellphone number),can I leave them home?
