my kids' favourite type of meal is one with lots of variety. for lunches i give them some kielbasa, crackers, cheese, cut up apple, mini carrots, melon and berries.

for dinners i give them some meat (chicken, fish, pork or beef) along with either pasta or potatoes or rice, and some vegetables (corn, peas, beans) and salad.

just try to have some food from each of the food groups and give them as much variety as possible and they'll be happy

my kids love anything with minced beef in it. shepherds pie, chilli, spag bol. While they are young, I would give them as much vegetables as you can. Fair enough the nappies may be a bit horrendous, but if they get used to them at an early age it will be better for them health wise in the long run.

Traditional roast dinners always a fave. Try and keep off the fish finger and chips route. Once in a while is okay but not all the time. Best sticking to good home cooked healthy foods.

the least amount of junk food as possible. Don't get them started with french fries. My sister used to grind up real chicken for my nephew in a food processor when he was under 1 year old. After he got teeth just give him freshly cooked food. carrot sticks.. celery.. once they are hooked on junk food they're doomed.. and that leads to the possiblity of obesity their whole life. Trust me.. my parents weren't very good about teaching us a healthy way to eat. I'd ask a pediatritian if they had any suggestions for finger foods for babies. I think cheerios dry are perfect for itty bitty kids.

Plenty of fresh fruit and veggies, whole-grain foods, etc. and firmly limit refined foods of any kind.
