Aveeno is good
Calamine with aqueous cream (doesnt dry the skin like calamine on its own does)
Aloe vera gel is really good - very soothing.
Try and keep her cool, use a fan, let her wipe herself with a cool flannel.
Ibuprofen and paracetamol will help a bit, especially the ibuprofen as its an anti-inflammatory so should help reduce some swelling
Let her be naked

This is an excerpt from the CDC on what can be done at home. There is more information at the CDC link below.
"What home treatments are available for chickenpox?
Scratching the blisters may cause them to become infected. Therefore, keep fingernails trimmed short. Calamine lotion and Aveeno (oatmeal) baths may help relieve some of the itching. Do not use aspirin or aspirin-containing products to relieve your child's fever. The use of aspirin has been associated with development of Reye syndrome (a severe disease affecting all organs, but most seriously affecting the liver and brain, that may cause death). Use non aspirin medications such as acetaminophen (commonly known as Tylenol®)."
You should check with your doctor if this doesn't help.

Have you tried an oatmeal bath. You can buy it but it is expensive. The cheap way is to take an old knee high stocking or cut off a leg from panty hose. Fill it with oatmeal(the dry kind without sugar or fruit), tie a knot in the stocking and either tie it onto the water faucet so the water flows over it going into the bathtub or just swish it through the water. The water will get cloudy and it really helps with the itching. It's cheap and worth a try. No side effects either. Good Luck

You don't have to go out and buy Aveeno...it works great, but all you have to do is get an old sock, fill it with oatmeal, and let it run under the water in a cool bathtub. Squeeze it every once in awhile to get it to come out. It works just as good and cost less than 1/2 what Aveeno costs!! Benadryl might help some too. Ask your doc or pharmacist 1st though to get a proper dose. Good luck!!

Eurax lotion from a chemist relieves itching in just a few minutes, you cant use it while breast feeding but is OK on young children, it looks like calamine lotion when it goes on but works very quickly, the lotion is better than the cream.
You cant use it on open puss sores... but as long as none of the pox scabs are broken its an excellent product and your little girl will sleep soundly.

Everyone always suggests calamine and in my experience ( 3 kids and childrens nurse) this only works for a few secs then dries out and causes more itching.
I found avon after sun cooling spray with aloe vera after a cool bath the best ever, I never needed any antihistamine at all, even at night
I suppose there are other cooling sprays available too with aloe vera.

When my daughter had chicken pox I used Aveeno. I used the oatmeal bath and the lotion. It really does work. You can purchase it at a drugstore or supermarket. I'm sure WalMart, KMart, or Target have it.

Try Aveeno. They make a powdered oatmeal for the bath that soothes and calms skin.

The Aveeno is great and the doctor told us to give her Bendryl...it would either put her to sleep or make her hyper. Didn't take long to figure that one out! Older daughter ran circles around the coffee table and younger daughter slept.
