It's not too important, and many would say not advisable, that he have a pc or a telephone in his room at this age if one's available in an open area of the house that he can use at any time. But I wouldn't mind him having a free standing tv set (not taking up desk or bureau space)on your cable/satellite system, particularly if he's a videogamer or a movie watcher.
Find out what part of the room he typically leaves his skateboard in. If he stands it up by his door, put up some rubber matting to protect the furniture/drywall, and a coat hook just over head level right above it where he can leave his helmet.
Any comics shop will have some cool Spidey posters, and I'm sure that the shop where he gets his skateboard stuff will be able to find a nice poster of Tony Hawk or Bob Burnquist at work. Finding outer space graphics might take some looking, try searching "jpl gift shop" or "ksc gift shop" for links.
Something tells me that he might like a sound system. A boom box with detachable, mountable speakers (and a prominently identified headphone jack!) might be the ticket and you can find a good variety of them at K-mart.
A portmanteau, or more wall mounted coat hooks, for keeping his coat, hat, and backpack handy would be good too. Any lumber or hardware store should carry several varieties of em.
Good luck!

Well with the bunk bed you have to go with the spiderman decoration motif then. My kids loved spider man, get the blanket and sheet sets, maybe do the paint in the room if you want to go whole hog you could even do the logo on the main wall, a lesser version would be okay with posters though...there are lots of them about and it would be fairly easy to find them...
Good luck.

It sounds like you're a cool mom! I would worry about mixing too many themes though or the room will be a mess. I would pick skateboarding and make a theme with that. That way he can grow into the room and it's appropriate for a preteen or teen. Spiderman will be passe for him next year. You can do all kinds of cool things, maybe even make a ramp in the room.

I suggest that you stick with solids for the walls they do not all have to be the same color. Giant pictures or boarders are a real commitment and he will only be into those characters you mentioned for a short time.
Accent with whatever he wishes. It would be more fun to take him shopping for "big boy" posters and even those static decals are great and safe.
Allow him to pick his bed spread you choose the curtains, including him will give him a sense of accomplishment and a real feel for his own personal space.

My son loves spider man and all superheros, so he wanted a superhero room. I made up a superhero emblem for my son with the first Letter of his name (like the superman S). Then I painted it really big on one wall. He has stuffed spider man sitting up above the window in one corner. Another wall is covered in all kinds of superhero posters I let him pick out.
Guess you gotta figure out what he likes the best out of the three. ***You could combine skateboarding with one of the two characters. Like make it a skateboard themed room with spider man on the skateboards. You could make his bed like a skateboard ramp.
Get him involved in it. Kids come up with some good ideas. There are also some really good kid room magazines at places like home depot or on line articles. Good luck and most importantly HAVE FUN!

They sell glowing stars at Wal-mart, they're very cool when you turn out the lights. Check out Company Kids, they have a lot of cool ideas. You may find some props at Birthdayexpress.com they have big wall stickers for spongebob & spiderman. I've seen some great ideas at Pottery Barn Kids website. Lucky kid!

try painting the room a cool boys color like blue or green and then getting things that he likes to decorate the walls. Posters and decals of his favorite characters can be found just about anywhere.

My advice would be not to have any wallpaper or murals, and use accessories to give the room its theme. Reason I say this is kids change what they like all the time and you want to have whatever accessories he likes be easy to change out. It is fine to go with comforters and sheets, but on the walls I would frame posters, have shelves for collections, etc.. Use lots of color and it will be great.
