It said "I had a weird dream last night.. I dreamt that I was in the African Safari. I saw monkeys, and lions, and antelope! My family and I were watching a a herd of rhinos. Then out of the corner of my eye, I saw something so huge, and it made the rhinos run away. I began getting really scared, then i just realized that it was Edna." Isn't that the strangest thing? Should I be worried for her?

Btw, its a dream journal that my daughter writes in for her counselor, though she does have a habit of sharing the dreams with me on occasion.

Invasion of privacy comes to mind, I think you should be worries more about your snooping that your daughter's private thoughts.

I guess it depends on who Edna is and what other things are in her journal. You know her and you know her personality, so you really are the best person to answer this.

On the one hand, dreams rarely have the deeper meaning that people ascribe to them; they really are just a way of cataloging the day's events -- maybe they were discussing a trip to the zoo in school that day, or learning about Rhinos in Africa, etc.

On the other hand, if in her journal she's got other worries about Edna, then I'd be on the lookout for any signs of trouble, but truly -- without knowing your daughter or any of the other circumstances, it sounds like just a weird dream to me.

(Invariably, some idiot will say something rude about reading your child's journal. Parents must stay on top of what their kids are doing; reading their journals is a good way to do this, and no, you're not invading her privacy.)

Good luck!

Though it is nothing to cause immediate concern you should be aware of your daughters behavior around the time of this dream. I have had an acute fear of Edna since I was in the 6th grade and whenever I had a dream about Edna I usually found myself lashing out in my daily life. It would start with small things like breaking toothpicks in half to calm my Edna obsessed conscience. Gradually the outbursts got more and more noticeable to my friends and family, culminating in the time I tried to burn down my sisters Barbie Dream house, because the night before I had a dream that Edna had inhabited the said Dreamhouse and was planning a revolt on the government of Kerblakistan. One time Edna even told me in a dream that I looked good in Hot Pink leggings. I do not look good in leggings of any color it turns out.

First, you should not be reading your daughter's journal. Interrupting her personal space can eliminate the trust that she has in you as a parent and friend. Dreams are Dreams. Nothing else. I have had so many weird dreams, and some repetitious, and I am as sane as I can be. Now, you should be worried if she is having nightmares. That could be a problem. Obviously, if she is seeing a counselor there is a problem but reading her journal is not going to fix it, rather it will make it worse. Good luck.

It's just a dream. There's nothing she can do to control what she dreams about. There's really no reason to worry.

Actually, since she's having some really vivid, interesting dreams, why don't you go get a dream interpretation book and have some fun with her trying to figure out what they mean? It would be sort of a fun activity for the both of you.

Who's Edna, by the way?

Who's Edna?
Worried about her dreams?
No, I don't think U have anything 2 worry about.
Praps U should steer-clear of reading her Journal if U can't handle it!

It depends if you know an Edna that could be a threatening person. Sometimes the most memorable dreams are the ones that don't make sense, so that could be the reason she wrote about it. It might just be her subconscious getting rid of junk.

Its a dream, I see no reason at all to be worried. Heck, I had a dream last night that I was in a padded room waiting for my doctors to give me medication. People have wierd thoughts when they're in that state of mind. And not to sound rude, I know your a concerned parent but a diary is something sacred someone keeps when they want to tell their dreams/thoughts to something if she wanted you to see or felt a need to be worried she would of told you. I think you should lay off reading it for a long while.

I wouldn't worry about her...She has a good imagination.
After all, she does realize it is weird and not real. Who is Edna?? Is this person large?
It could be that your daughter has a fear of being as large as Edna.

I think that you made this up, just so you could say something about Edna on here. Get a life!

Dreams are dreams, and should be taken as such... yeah, they can be very strange, but haven't we ALL had strange dreams?

Take it for what it is... your daughter's subconscious running wilad. Who knows, maybe it's foreshadowing that your daughter has a very creative and imaginative instinct.

... but just in case... I would check over your shoulder periodically for Rhinos.
