if a parent decides to give up their rights do they have to have the premission of the other parent or do they just need to get a lawyer and go to court? if the father didn't sign the birth certificate and doesn't care whether the child is his or not but would like to give up any rights he may have if the child were his what would he have to do? Does he have to take a DNA test and then give up his rights? It's really a confusing situation I need to find some answers for thanks.

Today I will be going in for my 2nd appointment and I am actually very nervous. With my last pregnancy, at my 2nd appointment the doctor told me during an ultrasound that my baby had died and we talked about either a D&C or to let it happen natural. With this pregnancy, I am already 2 weeks further then I was last time but I’m scared that I might get the same news. Has anyone felt like this and was scared to go see the doc?

I have 4 children. They are 8, 4, 2 and 3 months. I have decided to start babysitting a couple of other children. They are almost 2 and 6 months. My questions are:

1~ How do I get my kids ready for this?

2~ My youngest 2 are mamas girls BAD. What can I do about that when they see mama taking care of someone else?

3~ Am I nuts? Is this something I should even be doing? (No we dont need the money... just thought it was a good idea! lol)

Thanks for any imput or advice you may have. I think I may need it and I dont think I thought this one through all the way! lol

i am a doctor, and was really dedicated to my work when i lived over in the uk.
when i moved to the states i gave up my job to be with my son, and also my certifications were not accepeted over here so i would have to do a couple of years retraining.
then i was approached by another doctor who asked me to work with him with him supervising me so i would not have to retrain.
my husband was dead against it, but said if i really wanted to i could, now i find out im pregnant with another child - and now i really dont know what to do, i cant very well leave two kids with my mother in law, im really torn, and i know it should be an easy descision - anyone got any advice.
i have not told the doctor im pregnant yet as i dont want to completely cut off that avenue, but he is going to need a response in a few days.
i dont even know what advice i want - i guess i am just confused and a bit depressed, so any advice would be good

I dated a guy who had been my best friend for years. We never had intercourse. We broke up under, what I had percieved and at the time we agreed upon was good terms. It has been years and I am married.

my husband and i made a list of names for baby, and discussed the source, meaning, and even sound of the names with eachother and in the end agreed to use his name. my husband knew the man, and we were both respectful of him.

I emailed the ex to tell him briefly about the honor.

He responded by freaking out and blasting me on his blog with a lot of shocking stuff that never happened. I got appalled and angry...but we voted to keep the name after I simmered down a bit.

Does anyone else see a problem with this? Why would an ex of years ago act this way? This is my second marriage, and it was all past...why freak out? Did I breach ettiquette by selecting an ex's name even with my husbands approval?

If the baby has one or more of the following:
gay gene(s)? obese gene? autisim? down syndrome?
mixed gender? or Depression?

Where do American draw the eugenics line?
Should the government step in? or should parents be allowed to choose their children in their own manner?

How do people who are both pro-life and anti-gay feel about this?

This is my CNN/ Youtube debate question for the GOP!~

Do you do it if you simply don't share the same point of view with the answerer? Or do you reserve it for those who give what you feel is bad, harmful, or insensitive answers?

How about a thumbs up?

In the pregnancy/parenting section I find this to be a very interesting gauge of what parents today believe.

My little boy is now 7 months and my husband and myself have been discussing what age would be best to have a little brother or sister for him. It took 2 ful years to conceive Joseph and we're resigned to the fact he may be our only gift from God. We could start trying for another now and have when he's young enough to accept a new baby or we could wait til he's 4 or 5 and old enough to understand and not feel displaced. What do others think?

My partner and I, well we are not going so well, it's a comittment issue. I've been looking into moving out, and getting my foot on the property ladder, (as I live in his house currently). I've found a lovely flat, it's perfect, and I have had an agreement in principle for the mortgage. I want to go ahead, but I recently came off the pill 5 weeks ago, and I haven't come on yet, there is a chance I could be pregnant. I've done a preg test, and it was negative, but the last time we had sex was Mon 13th. I am not asking if I am pregnant, I am just trying to figure out if it is realistic if I were pregnant to cope on my own and manage mortgage repayments, do you get help with this kind of thing?

I may sound awful, but I don't want the father to be involved with the upbringing of my unborn child. It will be up to the baby if he wants to meet him when he's older. Basically, falling pregnant to him was a mistake. He is very irresponsible and has been to jail for dui (8 times) and still drinks and drives, among other things. I'm not trying to hurt him, I just want whats best for my child.

I was answering a question related to a two year old little boy and most of the answers were impatient at least cruel and abusive at the most... I was replying when the poster deleted the question - as a forum for people to ask others where they might not be able to ask at home why do people choose to be so cruel?? Does anybody understand that parenting is a hard job with hard work for years and years and it isn't all pretty babies and flowers???

sitting ther eating ice cream. You're home cause you have kids. Most of my neighbors have nannies or grown children or family to babysit. I am a SAHM with a 3yr old and 10 month old and sometimes it's so depressing to see all the couples going out every weekend while I sit T home. To top it all off my husband gets home late tonight - can't even watch a movie together. It all pays off in the end though, right?

There is a chance I might have gotten a girl pregnant and she has a boyfriend of 5 years. The problem is he has already told her that he is gonna stay with her even if the kid isnt his. I have no problem in paying child support since it might be my kid but here is where i'm having a problem. The guy she is with has a history of domestic violence, he has no job, and he does coke on a regular basis, and he is on probabtion right now. She loves him and I know she wont leave him even if its my kid. But if it is my kid I dont him in that kind of enviroment, they can barely make it themselves, so they can't afford a new born baby. so with his criminal record and them not being able to support them kid themselves, can I try for full custody.
