Newborn & Baby - March 2007

We took him to the er last nite and his x ray and his blood work was normal, they couldnt find anything, I took him to his dr this morning and the same thing. I am giving him tylenol every four hours and motrin every 8, any idea of what may be wrong or how to get his fever to break?

we've tried drugs, orgel, teething, teething rings, cold spoons and wash cloths...anything else that might work oh and milk pills?

i want to go back to work on the week ends but i am breast feeding and my 3 month old son wants nothing to do with a bottle even filled with my breast milk

My son is 2 months old. I usually feed him Enfamil Lipil but it's getting really expensive (he's 17 lbs already!). I found that Sam's Club brand Member's Mark makes an infant formula comparable to Enfamil Lipil... has the same ingredients and everything- but is much more affordable. Would it be okay to change? I want to give him the best, but I also have a budget too...

She is 4 months old. I've been doing it since she was 2 1/2 months old. She falls asleep at the breast, and then we put her in her crib. She sleeps through the night. Usually 9pm to 7 or 8pm without waking up.

I had a mom critisized me for that today. What do you think?

I did ask this earlier, but I didn't get any answers that pertained to the question at hand so I thought I would try again at a more active time.
So my little guy drinks Similac in concentrate so all I do is add water... (No, it is not the same as ready to use)... But 2 weeks ago we switched to Enfamil in powder form, my little man was like a bottomless pit and I didn't want to give him rice cereal yet as he's only 2 months old. So I tried this stuff because it says it's thicker and I thought it might fill him up better, but it gave him such a belly ache he screamed for a week straight.
So my question is, do you think the belly ache was caused by the change in brands and consistancy. Or was it because it was the powder that made him ill.
If I changed to powdered Similac will he still get sick?

I'm doing a poll of sorts.
How much in height and weight did your child grow between 12 and 16 months? My daughter just turned 1 and I bought big summer clothes for her. I'm wondering if it was a mistake. She gained a whole pound in the last 30 days so I'm wondering if she'll keep it up. I know all babies are different but I'd like your info. Thanks!

My daughter just turned one. I just found out I am pregnant again. She has always slept with us and she always falls assleep nursing. How do I go about wiening her and getting her into her own bed? Should I do one at a time? I tried putting her in her own bed in our room and not nursing her at night. She cried all day long and screamed if I left the room. I went back to letting her sleep with us and nurse and she is happy crawling to other rooms without me. I just don't know how to do this the right way.

My son is almost 7 months.. a very happy baby, developmentally right on track for his age or even ahead.. But Does anybody else's baby do some kind of weird body movements? Like sometimes he keeps nodding his head and making this mmm mmm sound, or shrugs his shoulders and makes this weird face.. or squints his eyes and grinds his teeth? lol I don't know is it normal for babies to do weird things like that? Or is something wrong? Should I ask the doctor? Please help!! thank you!

My pediatrician's office called today and said that some of the test results from DD's newborn screen came back abnormal. I'm going in tomorrow, but they said that's all they could tell me on the phone. OMG I'm freaking out. How can I wait until tomorrow?!?!? What does the screening test for?? Has this happened to anyone else?? Are the things they test for treatable? Please help, I'm so scared....

i just posted this in the pregnancy section also to see different peoples responses but i wanted to post it here too. i had my baby about 5 1/2 weeks ago, and just within the last 3 days i have noticed that i have bad acid reflux. now when i was pregnant i only got it the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy... then after i had her i didnt get it at all... but now its with ANYTHING i eat or drink. most of the time i cant eat whatever i want but if i take a nap or go to sleep at night, when i wake up i have it really bad... just the last day or 2 at most, it has been like that without me going to sleep... i have tryed tums even the extra streight ones and it mellows it out some but not enough to really relieve it. i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to calm it down enough to where you didnt feel like you were gonna die every min of the day?

My friends baby girl was born precisely on her due date. Its a week now but baby does not latch to the breast. it seems she cries a lot when given the breast. my friend feels as if she is punishing the baby. So my friend is now pumping and feeding. and she finds it very difficult.
I told her to contact a Lactation specialist.
Any advise how she can help baby latch to the breast.

A friend recommended them to me. I was reading the packaging and it says: "Ask a doctor before using if pregnant or breastfeeding." Why on earth would it have a warning like that on something that is meant to be given to a baby.

I asked this question earlier and didn't really get any responses. Has anyone had an infant get ear tubes and adnoids removed? If so, how did the baby do immediatly after the surgery?

I wanna know how long a can of powder formula 12.9 oz can. will last your 5 month old baby or your baby that eats 5-6 oz bottle.

My 5 month old goes through 9 cans in half a month(5oz every 3 hours or so). She is getting some soilds but she wont eat them half the time so she doesnt wanna eat them but is ready for it cause she eats so much, i get the 9 cans free from wic but i have to buy the rest. Right now its going faster cause she is sick and throws up her bottles alot.

Does anyone have the same situation with there baby?

Im moving tomorrow to a new state so a call to a doctore wont help me none on this.

hi, i was wondering how often is ok to bath a 3 month old baby, i have been bathing mine every night but heard this is too much for there skin, i use johnsons baby oil after to keep moisture in it, is this ok?
