I have a friend who was given a baby quilt with buttons at her shower and was wondering if that was really safe? I realize it would be her responsibility to check them....but never saw a blanket like that before.

Does anyone use those baby jumpers? You know those ones that hang in the door frame. I haven't seen them in stores. Do they still sell them?

Does anyone still use those baby jumpers? The one that you attach to the doorway frame? I heard that they can be dangerous. Does anyone still use them? Can you even buy them in the stores anymore?

My baby is 4 1/2 mos old and I had a job interview the other day, and after figuring out the pay and what it will cost for day care, when all is said and done, i'll be bringing home about $130 a week after paying for day care and insurance and taxes. My mother thinks i should stay home with my baby and be here when my 10 y/o gets home from school, but my friend says that is still enough money a month to pay rent. Im so torn. I want to be home with my baby, but i want to be reasonable too. I missed all the milestones with my first daughter because i was in school. I also thought with what people pay for child care these days i could take in a couple of babies or small kids and charge less and still end up with more money. What should i do?

My 5 week old daughter was on Enfamil Lipil (with Iron) for four weeks. My husband and I noticed that she was extremely gassy on it. She was passing the gas though and I was giving her Mylicon drops with every feeding. I called the Dr. and told him that she was very gassy and he switched her to LactoFree formula. She has been on that for a week and is spitting up horribly. I called last night and he said to switch her to Enfamil Nutramigen. I feel that she was OK on the Lipil to begin with and I would hate to continue to switch her since she is only 5 weeks old. She has been fussy but she does sleep through the night...9 pm to about 3:30 am. Is there a true need to switch her agian??

My 4 & 1/2 month old is waking up so much. At first his bedtime was around 11pm (late-- we know, but that's when he was tired.) He would usually sleep for 4 hours, then wake up, feed, sleep for 3 hours, wake up, feed and so on. We were concerned that he was not getting too much sleep since he woke up for the morning at around 9ish. We read some of the other questions/answers posted and decided to try an earlier bed time (7:30 - 8 pm). When we put him to bed earlier, he wakes up almost every half hour until 11pm and then sleeps for maybe 3 hours to wake up and feed. Now he wakes up in the morning at 10:30. We are excited about him getting more sleep but it is not his best sleep since by the time it is morning he wakes up 9-10 times! He also only naps for 1/2 - 1 hour during the day about 3 times. We massage him during the day, but not much help. We are stumped and all out of ideas...we need help!

My daughter is almost 3 months. She drinks about 4 oz of milk every feeding, but sometimes she doesn't seem to settle. I've tried substituting with teas and pedialyte a feeding per day, but even if she drinks 4 oz of tea she still wants her bottle. At what age am I able to give my daughter gerber? Juices? and cereal like rice cereal or even oatmeal?

i just gave birth to my son on the 9th of this month. i feel so bad because i was induced early because of hypertension. i didnt get to learn how to bond or breastfeed. my hubby is around and helping me alot. im not complaining. only thing that bothers me about him is that he thinks he is the mom and dad. like things im suposed to do or trying to do like successfully breastfeed but since i was under all those meds i couldnt do what i needed to do. sometimes i feel like im not doing enough. when he changes his diaper, im the trash lady or the maid(like knos everything). i get told that my son doesnt know me.i cant change his diaper without him screaming on the top of his lungs and my hubby doing it with success.i hold him and kiss and tell him i love him. i have things i need to take care of and on top of it im being told im not ever around & i am. he always says it n a nice way. what could be done to make things better?i dont cry, but alone i do, when im holding him.Y do i feel so bad?

My 10 month old will not sleep! He just cries and cries and cries. I walk in and he stops briefly but continues to cry when I dont pick him up. I read him stories, sing him songs and have even put on the radio. He doesn't like the soother and I can only give him so much milk. He is my 3rd child and I dont recall ever having this problem. He kept me up until 4 am this morning. From midnight on he cried every half hour or so. And now I have been battling with him to nap for the past 3 hours. Every 15 minutes I go in and calm him down but it is just a continuous cycle. Any suggestions?

I've started my 5 month old on solids, (cereal and green veggies) and I've noticed he's been taking a lot less milk (pumped breastmilk). Before solids he'd have about 25-30 ounces a day, now I've noticed that I have a lot of milk in the fridge, so much I need to freeze some of it. I offer him the bottle before and after each meal, and between meals. He doesn't seem to want it, he'll drink about an ounce and then won't want anymore. He's not hungry because he'd cry if he was hungry right?

He eats about 2 ounces of solids 3 times a day.

So I guess my question is how much breastmilk should he be drinking now that he's on solids?

He weighs 16 pounds.

I don't nurse him, I pump and he has my milk in the bottle.

She said something like this....... brown the rice a bit, then put in cevada and yellow corn and boil it......... the tea water that comes out is good for healing up. She said I can give some of the water to my 1yr. old son so he can get better from a cold he just had..............Can anyone help???

If anyone is interested in setting up our own little network, would you please e-mail me? Some of the ignorant responses I have seen today to questions about breastfeeding/extended breastfeeding have prompted me to think that we need each other to talk to. I don't know any other moms around where I live that have any experience at extended breastfeeding. I would love to talk with moms who are actually intelligent about the subject!

NOT my original plan mind you, but circumstances have found me pumping exclusively for my 4 month old. I have been doing so for about two months now. I was wondering,

1.) Is it possible to continue pumping for the first year?
2.) If you have done this, how much did you put out a day?
3.) How many times a day would you pump, once the baby is 4 months?
4.) During the night too?

I average between 25 and 30 ounces a day, pumping. I pump for 20-30 minutes at a time, every 2-3 hours, or at least 6-8 times a day. Lately I have been really fatigued and have been missing my usual 5 am pump, but have kept the midnight and 8 am ones. Thanks for looking.
