I had to do it twice for my son. The first time my sister had to do it because I just couldn't. After you put it in squeeze his butt cheeks together (not very hard) for a little.

Depending on how old but Gerber has prune & apple juice mix. I now give my son a little of that and 20 min later all better.

I have to do this twice a month for my son. The key is to do it slowly let it soften, and make sure it's far enough in. Hold it there for a few seconds then hurry and put the diaper back on and let him run around. Mine usually forgets it's in there and he poops like 15 mins later!

Why do you need to give one in the first place? If you are talking about a baby who is not doo dooing like you think they should its better to give them juice. Make sure its 1/2 and 1/2 though and pear is the best.

try a liquid stool softener for infants.
find something to distract him while your doing it.
like a fave toy or educational video that might help.
Good luck
