I did ask this earlier, but I didn't get any answers that pertained to the question at hand so I thought I would try again at a more active time.
So my little guy drinks Similac in concentrate so all I do is add water... (No, it is not the same as ready to use)... But 2 weeks ago we switched to Enfamil in powder form, my little man was like a bottomless pit and I didn't want to give him rice cereal yet as he's only 2 months old. So I tried this stuff because it says it's thicker and I thought it might fill him up better, but it gave him such a belly ache he screamed for a week straight.
So my question is, do you think the belly ache was caused by the change in brands and consistancy. Or was it because it was the powder that made him ill.
If I changed to powdered Similac will he still get sick?

By the way... we have already stopped giving him Enfamil and did switch back to Similac.
I just think using the powder will be more convenient when we travel.

I don't think it could have been the powder. I switched my son back and forth from the concentrate to the powder all the time. It was the same brand and type thou and he never seemedto mind. One time I tried to change brands on him and he WOULD NOT drink the other brand! LOL he's still picky!! It was probably the different nutrients in the formula. Some of them, I think Enfamil, have them broken down more then the other brands. With him being so young, it was probably just a little shock to his stomach. Anyhow, go slow on changing foods with them when they're so young (advice from my sons doctor). Good luck!

I think changing brands could have some effect but not really changing from concentrate to powder. Could the pain be caused by another reason? Maybe he had gas or just wasn't feeling well. The powder does seem to last a little longer if it works out for you. Have you changed the way you warm your bottles when you switched over? I used to buy bottled water and fill all the bottles ahead of time to have them ready. I kept the bottles at room temperature on the counter and just added the powder when i was ready for a feeding. I never warmed any bottles and this worked for my kids. It was easier too when I was on the go. Hope your little ones tummy feels better!

I believe it was the different brand not the fact that it was powder. He is still very young and his body cannot make a sudden change like that with the brands. My doctor told me that it is better to have the bottles at room temp. because a bottle to cold or to warm will cause colic. And yes powder is so much easier when you travel all you have to do is throw the powder in and shake. With my son I make three 6oz. bottles of water and then a powder holder with the proper amount of powder and put it on a shelf in my room and at night when he is hungry i make one feed him and never have to leave the bed.

Enfamil and Similac have different flavors....if you baby likes Similac, keep him on that...you and he both will be happier. I tried the swith-eroo on my kids once and they absolutely REFUSED to eat....so, if your baby got a tummy ache, don't give him the Enfamil as it may be giving him really bad gas. No every brand of formula is going to agree with every baby.
