My son is almost 7 months.. a very happy baby, developmentally right on track for his age or even ahead.. But Does anybody else's baby do some kind of weird body movements? Like sometimes he keeps nodding his head and making this mmm mmm sound, or shrugs his shoulders and makes this weird face.. or squints his eyes and grinds his teeth? lol I don't know is it normal for babies to do weird things like that? Or is something wrong? Should I ask the doctor? Please help!! thank you!

absolutely totally normal! these "weird body movements" are a baby's way of developing their language skills. he watches you talk and interact with others as well as with him and in his own little baby way, he's imitating that. they make alot of different sounds and noises because they're learning to use their tongues and eventually form words. i've read that you should encourage these funny faces and funny sounds by playing games...when he makes a funny face then you make the same face back at him. if he makes a funny sound, use that same sound in a silly made up song for him. he'll absolutely LOVE it and it will encourage him to keep practicing his language development.

i'm with ProudMama...curiously like she's attempting to poop. My 8 month old does a similar situation, and she or he's solely breastfed. If she's ingesting extra solids or finger meals which may be what's inflicting it. next time she does it, attempt gently pulling her legs up in direction of her physique and see if she relaxes or passes gas.

I'm sure he's fine but if you want more assurance ask his pediatrician. All kids do different weired things. For a few weeks my son squinted his eyes so weired when he was tired he almost looked like he was drunk.

My 7th Month Old is also kinda of quirky. He likes being held in odd positions and he enjoys making awkward sounds.

Remember its these weird things that makes him so unique.

i would ask the doctor but yes i believe its normal babies experiment alot with themselves you can put a piece of tape on there toes and they will observe it(remember its their first time in the world and they need to understand whatdoes what) so wierd things can go on but just to be safe i would phone the doctor
