I asked this question earlier and didn't really get any responses. Has anyone had an infant get ear tubes and adnoids removed? If so, how did the baby do immediatly after the surgery?

Two of my other children had tubes and one had adnoids removed, but they were a little older, 18months or so. I'm just nervous because he is so young!!

Yes I have had two infants actually that had this same surgery. My youngest was 13 months old and the hospital setting was very professional. They will give the baby some great kool-aid they call it, but it is something to relax them so they don't get so upset when the nurse takes the baby to surgery where everything is sterile and you are not allowed. But I do know the fear, it doesn't take that long, 15 mins tops! They are groggy afterwards, but they let you come back immediately after the baby starts waking up and that way you can console your child. Everything will be okay, just calm down, the baby can sense your nervousness! They might throw up, and you might see some blood not alot, so don't worry! Just trying to help. I have been through it twice, and honey I do know and feel your pain. But this procedure is done thousands of times a day. It will pay off in the end. Your child will be so much happier and feel so much better.

My son was 18 months old when he had his ear tubes put in. He was a little groggy after the surgery, he vomited once in the car on the way home (only because of the anesthesia), and was playing like normal by the time we got home. He had his tonsils and adenoids removed about 10 months ago. He had a rougher time with that. He was pretty fussy for the rest of the day. Weird as it sounds, the only thing that he would drink was Coke. It took him a couple of days to really recover well, and feel well enough to play. But the benefits from it have been great. No more ear infections and so far, no more sore throats.

The technical term for the 'ear tube' procedure is a 'meringotomy' ... it is usually performed to drain infected matter from the inner ear...or try and prevent further infections by not allowing a buildup of infective matter. Adenoids are commonly done at the same time. Infants usually tolerate the procedure very well....kids get sick quickly....but they also bounce back from illness amazingly quickly too. All should be well in a couple of days...a little tenderness....a little 'fussiness'....but nothing major.

Woahhhh! Slow down there.. You need to get a second opinion.. I can see MAYBE the part that she is getting tubes but not the part where she is getting her adnoids removed!!!!!!!!!! No one is answering because this is wayyyy too uncommon
