I'm going to be buying a lot of diapers real soon and I was curious of which brand parents use the most...which ones don't leak, which ones cause diaper rashes the most?

We use Huggies. The Kirkland brand sold at Costco is made by Huggies, but I think they get a lot bulkier when wet than Huggies. If I get a good deal on Pampers I buy them instead. In my opinion they are equally good.

I'm not a big fan of Luvs because they don't have the stretchy sides.

I've never notices more diaper rashes with one brand vs another. Diaper rash is caused by the stool and urine mixing so as long as you change a poopy diaper right away you can pretty much get away with no diaper rash.

Also, in my opinion, the generic brand diapers aren't as absorbent so you end up using more of them which pretty much negates the cheaper price.

A couple great sources for diapers if you don't belong to a warehouse club:
www.amazon.com/grocery They have discounts on the major brands from time to time (in Jan it was $30 off $99 of Huggies, and in Feb it was $25 off $99 of Pampers), plus they have free delivery on orders over $25, and no sales tax.

www.1800diapers.com also delivers diapers right to your door with free delivery on orders over $50 (I think). They also carry the Kirkland brand wipes there, which I think are the best, if you don't have a Costco membership.

You didn't ask about wipes but I'll put in my 2 cents on those too. The best are Kirkland (Costco) brand, next are the Parent's Choice (Walmart) brand, followed by Huggies, then Pampers.

And if you do have to contend with diaper rash at some point (and we all do), I think that A&D ointment is the best, followed by Desitin, then Bordeaux's Butt Paste.

I have tried the 3 major brands: Luvs, Huggies and Pampers. I HATED the Luvs with a passion, and actually gave the 2 packages I had left to a friend of mine to use so that I could be rid of them.Every time my daughter wore Luvs and peed, it soaked through the diaper, through her clothes, through her blankets....it was like having a tissue between her legs. Pampers are alright, but they smell weird and become squishy when the baby pees. Also, whenever she poops, even if it's a small amount, the outside of the diaper turns a brown color.

we are a Huggies household. They are roomy, thick diapers, and the only time she's ever leaked is when she's done a major MAJOR #2 that shot up her back. But, she's done that with all 3 of the brands, so it's not only Huggies related. I feel much better when she's wearing the Huggies, because I have less worries.

For price reasons, I would love to try a store brand, but my daughter has super sensitive skin and her doc said store brands would most likely break her out.

For coupons off diapers, I would register at Huggies, Luvs, and Pampers' websites.

The diaper that I found and love is called Baby Basics. It is a generic brand so it doesn't cost a lot about $10 a pack for size 1. They don't leak and my baby has only had a little diaper rash that was gone within an hour (the next diaper change). If you want to go brand name I liked Huggies for younger babies and Pampers as they get older.

Pampers brand Swaddlers are real good. Those are the ones they used at my hospital, too. Huggies are OK but they don't wrap around like Pampers does and I've had a couple of leaks. As far as diaper rash, diapers don't cause them, the urine and poop does. To avoid it, just make sure you change your baby frequently. And try your best to avoid wipes. They encourage or make diaper rash worse. Not even the hospital used wipes. They used these napkin things and soaked it in warm water. If your hospital uses that, try to take some home and use that for the first couple of weeks instead. Or if not, use cotton balls and warm water. For me, I just rinse out the baby wipes in warm water and use that. Or if she did a lot, I just rinse her off in the sink and use a little baby wash and a soft baby washcloth and then pat dry. When they're newborn their skin is super sensitive and the chemicals in the wipes plus the contact from the urine and poop can make your baby's skin raw. But as far as diapers, you kinda get what u pay for. The cheap ones are..well cheap for a reason. But Pampers Swaddlers have been my favorite and I guess Huggies is ok.

I have always thought Pampers and Huggies were the best. They fit well and there is no leaking or diaper rash involved with them. Cheap store brand diapers are the worst to use. The baby wets once and you have a soaking diaper!!

We've tried them all and actually for little boys, I think the Kirkland Brand Diapers at Costco work the best and hold the liquid in well. One key which seems to make the most difference is to have the right size diaper and move up to the next size at the right time.

I really think huggies are the best diapers. They don't leak and they don't cause diaper rash. But you should still always use diaper rash cream with your baby because when they are using alot of diapers and they get wet, they can get a diaper rash. Diapers should always have those strechy tabs because then the diaper will leak, thats why i hated those Luvs diapers.

I would suggest using some of all the brands before buying in bulk, because no matter what we all tell you, you will like and dislike certain brands. For me, I absolutely loved Pampers Swaddlers. My son is in Pampers Cruisers now and Pampers are what I have always used. They are sooooo soft and they smell good. I've had a lot of luck with them. Huggies aren't near as soft as Pampers.

I wouldn't go overboard with buying diapers becuase it's all trial and error and you really don't know how long your baby will last in that size or brand.
I don't like kirklands or Huggies becuase they always leaked.
But I loved Pamper's Swaddlers becuase they're so soft and pretty obsorbent and even Pampers Baby Dry is VERY obsorbent, but they have a pretty rough feel to them...
