i just posted this in the pregnancy section also to see different peoples responses but i wanted to post it here too. i had my baby about 5 1/2 weeks ago, and just within the last 3 days i have noticed that i have bad acid reflux. now when i was pregnant i only got it the last 3 weeks of my pregnancy... then after i had her i didnt get it at all... but now its with ANYTHING i eat or drink. most of the time i cant eat whatever i want but if i take a nap or go to sleep at night, when i wake up i have it really bad... just the last day or 2 at most, it has been like that without me going to sleep... i have tryed tums even the extra streight ones and it mellows it out some but not enough to really relieve it. i was wondering if this has happened to anyone else and if so what did you do to calm it down enough to where you didnt feel like you were gonna die every min of the day?

I hope that what I am about will not be offensive at all but needs to be addressed.

This is mostly happening to people that have a weight problem. After having a baby
perhaps U have put on more weight that U are used to. Once that this weight comes off U should be good as new.
If not then, U need to use something like tums or Rolaids. That is what I used to use until it never went away any longer.
Now I have a prescription for Prilosec.
Prilosec really does work but now the insurance industry is cranking down on doctors that prescribe this medicine as they want people to use generic. So then they are saying to use what is advertised as the little purple pill. It did not work for me but does help a lot of people. It is called "Nexium". So u will have to find out what is the best thing to do for the short run, and then get a doctor to prescribe for the long haul.

Good luck !!

I am an acid reflux sufferer. I use prescription medicine but once in a while I forget it and need immediate relief, and at the risk of sounding like a TV commercial.. LOL..., I take Maalox!

It helps better than most over the counter stuff. If this does not help - go see your doctor ASAP. You can strangle to death (not meaning to scare you).., as I have had the acid creep up into my wind-pipe before I knew what was going on and end up gasping for all I am worth to get my air.

Hopefully yours doesn't get that bad, but take the Maalox and if it does not help see a doctor. Acid reflux can cause scarring of your esophagus and you do not want that to happen.
Maalox in the Bottle is better by the way

I tell ya, I feel bad for you. I had terrible reflux toward the end of both my pregnancies. If I took a sip of water I would be in pain. But it stopped after the births. I have never heard of reflux in the mother after giving birth. Maybe a Tagment or Zantac may do the trick for you. Give a call to your OBGYN. Good Luck!
