There are special bottles on onestepahead.com that are Breast Bottles. Seriously! I bought one but my little booger wouldn't take it...however every child is different. It didn't help that I was the one trying to give it to her. As a previous poster said, you shouldn't be in the room. Babies WILL NOT STARVE THEMSELVES. So be persistent. One thing though, is that if you are pumping, the baby may not like the idea of the breast milk in the bottle...you might need to start with a bit of formula, and gradually add half breast milk and half formula until all breast milk.

Try natural shaped nipples, like the Nuk brand. Only give him the bottle for a while, even when you are available. Just express all your milk. Have whomever is feeding him to hold him close in the same position(s) you normally do and talk to him. Babies miss the closeness of nursing too. Once he accepts the bottle for a few weeks, you can go back to nursing when you are available.

Try offering the bottle before the baby is likely to be too hungry, before his usual nursing time.
*Hold the baby lovingly while giving the bottle.
*Wrap the baby in some of mother's clothing that has her smell on it while offering the bottle.
*Lay the bottle nipple near his mouth and allow him to pull it into his mouth himself, or tickle his lips with the bottle nipple as many mothers do with the breast.
*Try different bottle nipples and shapes.
*Try different positions (some babies will refuse to bottle feed in the "nursing" position that mom uses. Some don't like to look at the caregiver while taking a bottle.)
*Try bottle-feeding while baby is moving rhythmically - rocking, swaying, or swaying from side to side - because this may be calming to him.
* try having someone besids mom offer the bottle. In fact don't be present at all leave the house for a little bit.

All I can say is good luck. My daughter wouldn't take a bottle until she was 8 months old. We were so excited that we went out on our first 'date' in ages and really celebrated at a fancy restaurant!!!! I just kept offering it to her, Daddy kept offering it to her, one day it just happened.

You have to leave the room. He will probably take a bottle from someone else. My son would never take one from me but would for my husband.

try playtex nurser bottles with the drop in liners, and give it to your son when he is really hungry, he is less likely to reject it. as for the bottle, the nipple on those is shaped like a breast and its easier to transition
