I wanna know how long a can of powder formula 12.9 oz can. will last your 5 month old baby or your baby that eats 5-6 oz bottle.

My 5 month old goes through 9 cans in half a month(5oz every 3 hours or so). She is getting some soilds but she wont eat them half the time so she doesnt wanna eat them but is ready for it cause she eats so much, i get the 9 cans free from wic but i have to buy the rest. Right now its going faster cause she is sick and throws up her bottles alot.

Does anyone have the same situation with there baby?

Im moving tomorrow to a new state so a call to a doctore wont help me none on this.

My youngest child is almost 2 now so I don't remember exactly how much formula she went through at 5 months. I do know that i also had WIC and still had to still buy extra cans towards the end of the month. It usually lasted me until the 3rd week or so. I don't think I went through it quite as fast because I was giving her cereal in the morning which is fine by 5 months. Your baby should be on some solids because at this age she needs more solids to feel satisfied. I never mixed formula with the cereal though like some mothers suggest for bottles. I always felt that my child should eat solids from a spoon not adding it to a bottle and making the nipple larger to make them sleep longer. Try number 1 baby food jars....introducing one food at a time to check for allergic reactions. Also make sure that your child is not throwing up from having too full of a tummy of formula. Some spit up is normal, but babies should not be forced to finish all of their bottle every feeding. Your baby will let you know when she is full...they tend to go through growth spurts at times and may change eating habits....this is also normal. As soon as you move....check into getting WIC again right away. It will help save lots of money. And you can even get it after she is off formula for things like milk, cheese, cereal, eggs, and juice. Good luck in the new house!

I have a 5 month old son and he goes through 3 of the 26oz. cans of formula a month, try organic cereal or regular cereal in her bottle, about a tablespoon full per 5 oz.
If she is throwing up (nonviolently) she might be teething, hold her upright while she is eating and after she is done. Give her the teething play toy to help her aching gums. Hope that helps

Every baby is different but i do have some advice that doesn't really answer your question. For now try giving her a little plain water in between bottles and when she gets better and her tummy is more up to it you should try to add some baby cereal to her bottle. It will make her fuller so that she'll eat less often. Start with plain rice cereal.

1 can lasts my baby about 3 days. she goes throught 10 cans a month. try giving her a cereal bottle. it isnt off a spoon so she should accept it, and it helps in making the formula last. try just single grain rice cereal from gerber i give my daughter 1 and a half tablespoons in 6 ounces of formula. good luck!

Breastfeed her. It protects her from things like the stomach virus! It's not too late. You can start and your body will start producing milk.
