I thought I’d have to worry about SIDS for 12 month, now I found out that there is such thing as SUDC (sudden unexplained death in childhood) where children as old as 5 pass away in their sleep. Any one know anything about that?

My seven and a half month old son was running a fever this weekend...we took him to the emergency room on sunday because it spiked up to 103...they checked him out and said it was a middle ear infection, they sent us home with a script for amoxicillin......yesterday he started having a bit of diahrrea and a rash all over his body....so we went to the doctors today and he said that the ER misdiagnosed him with an ear infection, he does not have an ear infection, that it happens all the time, if the baby is crying and the ear turns red from crying, the baby gets put on antibiotics which will fix just about whatever happens to be the real problem. He said that the diahrrea is probably from the amoxicillin and the rash is called roseola...roseola is a rash you get when the fever breaks....
In summery the doc said it was just roseola, a fever that ends in a rash, that most babies get in their first year.
He said i should stop the antibiotics because they are causing diahrrea.
Anyone

My 5 week old daughter is bottled fed, and I mix her formula with the bottled nursery water with flouride. Is this okay for her? I dont want to use the tap water from our home because i'm not sure how clean it is. I'm wondering if it matters if I use bottled water or the nursery water with flouride?

Okay so I'm moving from Kansas City to a town outside of Denver. It'll take us about 10 hours to get there including stops. I'm going to be traveling with my then 9 month old baby. Should we drive half way then stop for the night or would it be better for my baby if we drive the whole way?

I am really concerned because my baby is almost 9 months and he has never tried to be mobile in any way. How did you get your baby to crawl or to be mobile in other ways. I can't even put him down on the floor on his tummy at all, I have tried to put him on his tummy ever since he was very young but he always screams and screams everytime I try. I am so desperate and guilty, I feel like I am doing something wrong.

I am a soon to be first time mom. I had colics when I was an infant, and actually, every now and then I still get them. I'm terrified at the thought of my baby having colics especially knowing how painful they are. Of course, just becuase I had them, doesn't mean my baby will, but why not prevent it from happening?
My question is, what bottle brand do you think is best for babies? I looked into Dr. Browns and they seemed to have by far the best feedback. Another thing to consider is that I will be trying to feedfeed. I say trying because I'm not sure how successful I will be, so I may be switching from breast to bottle (if I start pumping because the baby won't latch or when I return to school).
Thank you for all your help in advance!!

I have a 5 1/2 week-premature baby boy. He's 2 months old now. My question is just to see what your experiences have been. My boy's eyes were of course, deep, dark royal blue until about 2 weeks ago. The outter part of his eyes lightened up a little bit, but not exceedingly so, but the insides, near the pupils turned a lovely, smokey-blue color. Do baby's eyes USUALLY change color MORE than once? Or do they usually stay the same after they've changed once already? I'm hoping they'll stay the way they are, but I know there are no guarantees. But I'mma hopin'!!! (Daddy has almost aqua-bluish eyes, and Mama has brown eyes, my mother has brown eyes, my biological "father" has those smokey-blue colored eyes, according to my mother-she has no reason to lie about that, Daddy's parents' eye colors are unknown).

Okay, I had a baby girl in January of this year. I knew I was going to be induced, so I called my coworkers to let them know. NOBODY came to visit. To top it off, none of my coworkers invited to my baby shower came either! Theye eventually came to visit us at home a few weeks later.
Fast forward to today. A coworker of mine just had a baby yesterday- a planned c-section. Not only did my "office" send her a huge bouquet to the hospital, but everyone left at lunch today to go visit her! They all left me behind to answer the phones. I got the short end of the stick here. The other new mommy and I both started within a month of each other, it's not as if she had been here for such a long time that it would justify different treatment. Should I say something to my co-workers? Would that make me ungrateful for the few gifts that they gave for the baby? Should I just say the heck with 'em all and let is go? I'm insulted BIG TIME.
thanks

How much time do you spend doing housework? That includes cleaning, cooking, etc in order to help out your wife who is on maternity leave.

My just turned 7 month old has 7 teeth and eats pretty much anything we do...she can have small pieces of chicken, beef, soft veggies and fruit, you name it. My dilema is that she doesn't take bottles well anymore, she will only take about 4 oz between meals and then 6 oz before bed...so she's only getting an average of 18 oz or so a day. Is this OK...I feel like it's really early for her to be dropping off the formula. She drinks from a sippy cup well but still doesn't take much formula from it. I give her the bottle first but she still doesn't take much, she'd rather just wait and eat the food. Is this OK?

What's the difference between regular depression and post-partum (besides obviously that PPD is after you have a baby)? I've suffered from depression since my early teens, never used medication as treatment, and never considered myself "cured" but consider the good times to be times when my depression is in "remission" kinda like cancer. Anyway, I just had a baby boy a little over a month ago, and I'm definately experiecing more than "the baby blues." I already plan to talk to my doctor about this at my appointment next tuesday, but I want to know--how would I know (or the doctor know) whether it's PostPartum Depression or my regular depression back? What's the real difference?

Thank you.

I even went to Target.com and couldn't find it there either...
Any ideas?

I am expecting and I'm getting my shower list ready. I am new at this and have three questions:
1) Am I suppose to put the breast pump on the shower list?
2)Which breast pump works better, manual or automatic?
3)Which bottle brand do you experienced mommies recommend? I was looking into bottles and Dr. Browns had the best reviews?
Thank you so much for your help!

My baby just turned 6 weeks old.. Up until 1 week ago, he spit up in small amounts and only occassionally... Now, he is spitting up quite a bit, and sometimes even vomits.. Is it normal for a baby to begin spitting up at 6 weeks, if he hasn't before?
