I am really concerned because my baby is almost 9 months and he has never tried to be mobile in any way. How did you get your baby to crawl or to be mobile in other ways. I can't even put him down on the floor on his tummy at all, I have tried to put him on his tummy ever since he was very young but he always screams and screams everytime I try. I am so desperate and guilty, I feel like I am doing something wrong.

Let me emphasize this: I have tried to put him on his tummy ever since he was very young but no matter what I try (me on the floor playing with him, toys in front of him...) he just hates it (1mn, 2mn..) I have even tried leaving him in that position once or twice for a minute or 2 when he was crying but, it's hopeless.
That is why I asked this question for other people with similar problem, I wanted to know how they got their baby to be mobile (by mobile, I don't mean rolling over because my son rolls over just fine) . Thanks

My daughter hated being on her tummy too! She finally learned to crawl at 9 1/2 months and it only took her two days of screaming. I had to finally give in and put her on the floor for about 20 minutes 2 times a day.... You can sit and play with him to help him cope. It takes time but they do get used to it, and will then learn to crawl once they figure it out that its not so bad to be on your tummy after all. If you have to walk away and leave him be, let him cry it out a little.... do this every day for a few minutes gradually increasing the time to longer. If you absolutely can't stand the screaming and you feel miserable putting him on his stomache then stop doing it and give it more time, eventually he will get the hang of things on his own.... best wishes & good luck!

The only answer is tummy time, tummy time and tummy time. He will cry but he will be allright.
Ok, here is what you need to do... put your baby on the floor with some toys and go to another room. Make sure he will be safe without you around for 5 mins. He is gonna cry but he will also move.
I did that with my baby and when I came back he actually got his knees up. Another key is practice and frequency. Put him down as oftern as possible everyday. He has to get used to the idea of being on the floor.
On another note, its okay if your baby does not crawl. All babies are not crawlers, some start walking first and then crawling.

I assume you've addressed this with your pediatrician and they've told you the baby is developing normally otherwise. You're not doing anything wrong. Babies all develop in their own ways. My first rolled everywhere she wanted to go until she was about seven months old and then crawled. My second is 7 months old and has rolled over only a couple of times. Trying short periods of tummy time might help, but don't stress if it doesn't. He will start moving in his own time.

I have 3 kids and they all did different things. My second child didn't ever crawl. She went right from scooting to pulling up and then walking. I think what I would do is probably put him on the floor if he cries a little it won't hurt him, I know it will probably hurt you. He will do more in his own time. My second child was always small and did everything alot later then my other two, maybe that is it. Don't go by what people say he should be doing because believe me he will do it in his own time. Be patient and good luck.

You need to stay patient and understand that it might take your child to cry several times before he learns what he needs to learn, it is much harder for you than for him. You are going to have to force him to play on a blanket by himself. Why not sit him there and see if he rolls down and trys to move. Start with just 5 minutes and extend to longer periods and you will see that he will start getting used to tummy time. Not that you did anything wrong, it's hard to know what to do, but this is why tummy time is encouraged at such a young age, because by this time the child doesn't know what to do on their belly. Keep trying and it will get better for you both.

It very almost feels like a "crab walk" kind of crawl. hiya, in spite of gets them around. My son could the two roll or scoot everywhere he needed till now he discovered to crawl perfect. some do a undergo kind of crawl, others a military form of crawling, and a few an inch trojan horse form of crawl. there is not any "commonly used" or "unusual" approximately it. If it gets them from factor A to show B then it relatively works.

Every baby develops at different rates. I am assuming and hoping that you have already talked to the doctor about this and ruled out that it is something serious. Just spend lots of time with him on the floor with his favorite toys and encourage him to move towards them, even if it's by rolling. Just give him time and encourage him all that you can.

Talk to your doctor about this. Does he spit up on his tummy, does he act like he's in pain, does he have a soft spot on the back of his head (flat head) these are all signs of infant torticollis of which a physical therapist can help with.

try getting on the floor with him. if that doesnt work, you can put him in a saucer to get his limbs stronger. He'll probably start walking.
