LOL he is waay too young to stop now! Just let him be, it only becomes a problem when he is still doing it when he's 5, and at that time, you can teach him to stop. I had a friend who sucked her thumb until she was 9!!

Don't worry about your baby sucking his thumb. It probably relaxes him and is a natural thing to do. My little guy sucked his thumb and dragged his blanket behind him until he got big enough to play outside. Then the blanket went. But he continued to occasionally suck his thumb until almost 5 years old. Did no harm. His teeth and mouth are normal not deformed. For awhile his thumb looked pretty gross, but once they quit sucking it, it gets back to normal. If anyone tells you to make him stop or something will happen.... forget about it. This is comforting to some children. Forcing the issue can turn into a battle of wills and cause much anxiety for all.

Try switching to a pacifier. It is rather late to start and may not work, but the good thing is you can take away a pacifier but you cannot take away the thumbs. LOL. I think I sucked my thumb at night till I was 7 because my mother did not believe in pacifiers.I had dents from my teeth in my thumb for about a year afterwards, kind of like when you have a ring you have worn forever and finally take it off, it takes a long time for your finger to look normal again. I used them with 2 of my children and they were rid of them by age 2.5 or 3. you can of course wean them off sooner. My oldest son, I was lucky as he did not want thumb or pacifier.

Whats wrong with you??? It's perfectly normal for him to suck his thumb and there is nothing you can do to stop him. Why would you want to??? Sounds like you had a kid way to young, or you are missing a link somewhere.

It is completely natural for your child to suck his thumb. He probably uses his thumb for security and to help him put himself back to sleep at night. At this stage, there really is nothing you can do to prevent him from sucking his thumb. Kids go through stages, this is just one of his. He'll grow out of it when he's ready.

Pacifier, but if you don't want him sucking his thumb you may not want that either. Try asking your his dentist, many of them will have suggestions since sucking your thumb and pacifer can lead to teeth problems.

You could let him do it for a while since he is so young or you can give him a pacifier. It is much easier to break a habit of the paci. You just take it away. (around 2) ya cant take the fingers away so its harder.

put mittens on him. Or tape that thumb with medical tape / a bandaid. I would say put something hot/spicy on it, but if he rubs his eye or something.. that would be plenty bad. Either way good luck.

Why would you want to? It's normal. Don't worry about it until about kindergarten age.
