My 5 week old daughter is bottled fed, and I mix her formula with the bottled nursery water with flouride. Is this okay for her? I dont want to use the tap water from our home because i'm not sure how clean it is. I'm wondering if it matters if I use bottled water or the nursery water with flouride?

I've read about flouride not being good to give infants because their teeth will turn dark when they come in. I don't know this for a fact, only from reading. I used distilled water for my babies' formula and they got along fine and were healty. Your tap water would probably be fine but should be boiled, just in case there are any germ lurking there. Not all bottled water is any purer that tap water so probably isn't any better/

Nursery water is fine and so is any regular bottled water. I used regular bottled, I couldnt justify the price of the nursery water when I knew I would give my son vitamins with flouride but it's fine to use it to mix with formula.

8 months ago when my mother had my little sister she knew that she was going to bottle feed. When she went into labor she brought the bottles she had purchased and a big jug of nursery water to make her bottles with. When the baby was born the doctor said that we should make a bottle and I rushed to the bags and began to make the bottle. As I started to our the water in the bottle the doctor stopped me and asked me to give him the water. I did and he read the ingrediants he said that the flouride was very bad four babies and that it was ridiculous of the company to add it and then price the product so high, my mom and I were shocked and the doctor advised us to pour it down the drai. At that pi\oint I took the water back out of the doctors hands and poured the water down the hospitals drain then I rinsed out the bottle and remade it with the bottle aquafina water that the nurse had brought my mom. After that my mom continued to use the aquafina (i think it was aquafina) becasue she was scared to use the tap water from her house! I would really advise against the flouride stuff unless your doctor says you should.

If you're buying bottled water, look for water labeled purified, demineralized, deionized, distilled, or reverse osmosis filtered water. The water should be free of fluoride or contain a low level of fluoride. (By law, bottled water must meet the FDA's Standard of Water Quality, which is at least as stringent as the EPA's standards for tap water.)

Buy a water filtering system and then give her this water or buy filtered water. I just wouldn't trust the water from the nursery; they are giving her water from the same source you have at home................................. unless, of course, they are giving her bottled filtered water.

Does not matter if you use the tap or the nursery water as long as it has fluoride in it.

Go with the nursery water, it's the best choice for mixing formula.

i don't think it matters but you could just boil the water from your tap on the stove and then it is usable for a baby that is what i did with all my children
