Please give me advice no one I know seems to know anything about this and I can't find a good resource online!!!

For starters get some neosporin and use it around the clock. Make sure it the area is clean before you put it on. Then call the baby's physician and see what they prefer you do and tell them what you are using. This may be sufficient. If it is not better in about 5 days take the baby in to be seen, unless the baby starts running fever, if this starts then take the baby to the ER immediately.

Maybe you should take him/her to the doctor cause you really don't want your babys belly button to get infected!

well i just had my daughter 2weeks ago and the outer part fell off and dried up already but if your saying that your six month old is having a problem then i def suggest you take them to the pediatricians office asap.

Call your babys doctor or a phone a nurse hotline and inform them of the situation. Try not letting it get dirty and keep it dry.

A little neosporin shouldn't hurt either until you can get your baby to a Dr.
