My son will be 5 months next week. Right now he's mostly breastmilk fed (I pump) and a little bit of formula fed. People keep telling me different things about the rice cereal. My mom says to put it in his bottle at night, my friend says to spoon feed it, someone else said not to even give it. What am I really suposed to do. And if I put it in the bottle at night how much do I put in it? And if I spoon feed it how much?

on your Similac or Enfamil cans that you just bought, what is the expiration date on the can? I am curious as to how early in advance I can purchase formula for my upcoming baby :) Thanks ;)

My baby's due in a few days, and I'm planning to bottle feed her because I need to return to work rather soon (and also want her daddy to be able to participate in feeding her). However, I feel sad every time I read about how healthy breast milk is, and want to find a reasonable way to provide it. Is it possible to give her formula for most of her feedings, but pump one or two bottles of breast milk per day? If so, I can use a manual pump to produce a couple bottles of breast milk per day even when I return to work, but she would drink from a bottle from the start and I wouldn't have to worry about having a difficult time switching from breast to bottle. I've tried searching for information on this option but have found nothing. The closest I've found is the opposite -- breastfeeding most of the time but supplementing a couple daily feedings with formula. Would my option be difficult for her stomach to handle? Would I continue to produce enough milk? Thanks in advance for any info! :)

She mainly sucks it when she is tied, upset and a lot at the moment because she is teething, she would never take a dummy, she has sucked her thumb since day dot. Any idea's would be helpful.

We are flying from California to Maryland to meet up with the rest of my siblings and some of my other family then we are traveling some more to go on a Jamaican cruise. Would this be safe for a 1 year old and 2 month old?

I am writing this question with concearn for my nephew. I recently seen my sister in law holding my nephew. I was at my brother and sister in laws house for approximately 3 hours. During that time I seen my sister in law holding my two month nephew walking around the house holding him with one arm. His head flopped back three times. She did not support his head and his head really flung back. I thought you have to support newborns heads? I have no children and I am not a expert. I feel real guilty not saying something to my sister in law. Also when I seen my nephew I was really struck back that he seemed like a 1 week year old baby verse 10 week old baby. He slept like a newborn would, and had little expression when he was awake. My brother says he sleeps all the time. I have another niece and nephew and I do not remember them being like that at that age. Could this be caused by not supporting his head? Or is this normal? Please help!!!

Can I feed my 6 month old cold infant formula? She doesn't like the bottle very much but she doesn't mind the formula cold. I am trying to wean her off breastmilk and I am willing to try anything. She doesn't take it completely, she plays with it, spits it out, I think only 40% goes into her throat.

I have no experience with breast pumps and want something that is comfortable and close to natural suckling.

I will not be using it regularly so it doesn't matter if it's manual or electric.

Can you recommend a brand or model?

Thanks for your help.

My baby girl is 10 months 3 weeks old today. She has always been a short napper. I was hoping she would grow out of it and around 9 months she did sleep about 1 1/2 for her second nap, but about 4 weeks ago stopped and went back to a short one. Her sleep schedule is this: 6:30-7:00 am wake up, 1st nap around 9:00 (45min), 2nd nap around 1:00 (45 min, but I leave her in her room for atleast 1 1/2 so I can get some stuff done), then its bedtime around 6:30 or 7:00 pm. She is crawling/cruising, starting to talk, and teething too. I have tried adjusting the nap times, but it doesn't seem to matter. These short naps make for a fussy tired baby who rubs her eyes and yawns about half and hour after she wakes up, and is falling apart late in the afternoon. I love her so much and love staying home with her, but I am really frustrated right now. And I do know this will pass and she will turn into a beautiful little girl, and that is what keeps me going.

My baby, now 6 months old, was nursing about 10 times a day until he turned 5 months old. I then started rice cereal & he still nursed about 9 times a day. I added fruits, but no change. In the past week, he has started to increase solids & not nurse much at all- 3 or 4 times a day! I did, however, cut out the 4 night feeds (without much objection from him... yay sleep!)
Here is his schedule- is it normal??
9 am- nurse
11 am- 1 jar of baby food
3:00 (sometimes later)- nurse again
6:00 1 jar baby food for dinner (he eats all of it)
7:30- nurse
8:30- 1/2 cup of rice cereal with 3-4 ounces of Breastmilk
9:00- nurse a little before bed
Then he wakes at 3 (this is only day # 3 of no feeding at night) and he gets his pacifier, falls back to sleep until 6:00 and nurses only a tiny bit. He eats a lot at 9 though.
Does this seem ok? I worry about him getting enough BM. (I try to nurse more often but he refuses) He will take a sippy cup though- should I add more here?

I have this humidifier which I have not used in a while but left water in it. I want to store it but want to clean it first, and I threw away the cleaning instructions. If anyone knows how please share so it will be ready when I need to use it again.
