You can't beat a lavender bath for relaxing. Use a drop or two of essential oil for a FULL BATH once the bath has run - otherwise the oil will evaporate in the heat.
I don't think it helps an infant get to sleep; mine was a self calmer. and 'manual intervention' was never the best idea.
My baby loved the sound of a detuned radio (on FM) - and much less hassle than driving or washing machines.... 5 to 10 mins - not all night. I even use the same myself when I'm in a hotel that's too close to a noisy road!!
I think you can buy 'sleep machines' in the USA that generate white noise if you find it really does work

giving your baby a warm bath before bedtime helps in relaxing the baby. if you want to use lavender and chamomile, i would suggest using johnson and johnson lavender and chamomile body wash and lotion

It does soothe them but unfortunatly it's not a magic wand that will put your baby to sleep like that! I only wish! Your baby will fall asleep when your baby learns the skills to do so. The bath soap does smell great and maybe it has somewhat of a relaxing effect on mommy too!
Best of luck

Lavender is known to calm, but there are other ways to put your baby to sleep. You could try putting them in their carseat & turn the dryer on, put the carseat on top of the washer/dryer & the vibration will put the baby to sleep. Driving in the car works, Swaddling the baby and holding them in their side while swaddled works (wonders!). Good Luck!

I would consult your child's pediatrician first, as lavender & chamomile might be too harsh for his skin. If they say it's okay, I'd go for it...anything to get your little one to sleep! :-)
