I know her first name is going to be Isabella but I can't seem to come up with a not so common middle name. The only one I can think of that sounds good together is Isabella Marie but I would like a name not used so often- any ideas? Please let me know!

My son is now only 7 months old but is 31" and 21 lbs.- more than is allowed for the Graco carseat he has currently. He's still so young that I want to have him riding in a rear-facing seat that will convert later, when he's older. Anyone read the article in Consumer Reports regarding safe seats? Neither of the ones they mentioned on NBC (they were quoting the article, apparently) are built for a baby of this size. Any help would be appreciated, but real-life experience would help the most! Thanks, guys... :)

my 5month old son has a small rash about a size of a nickel on the side of his face by his ear. I'm not sure what it is, and his next appointment to see his doctor is in about a week. Could it be ring worm? It doesn't really seem to bother him, its read and circular and has small dots. Any ideas?

My daughter has pretty much always sucked on her fingers and now favors her thumb. I don't mind that she sucks her thumb, what worries me is now that she has teeth she is chewing her thumb and biting through the skin. She has never really taken a binky and I tried putting a band-aid on her thumb, but she pulled it off and went right back to sucking. I don't want her to stop sucking her thumb, because it helps her get to sleep and she's slept all night since she was about a month and a half, but I don't know what to do to get her to stop chewing into the skin and possibly getting an infection.

For those of us who do intend to start the weaning process at one year, why are we villified? If you want to be an extended breastfeeder, then more power to you. But it seems as if something is missed here - the AAP says, as long as it is "mutually" enjoyed by both mother and child. If one member of the team would like to have out - for whatever reason - at that age, they can and the child we be just fine. In fact, I really don't see the correlation between breast milk and intelligence. Health benefits, yes..fewer ear infections being one of them. But my husband was formula fed and he went to UT-Austin (and not on an athletic scholarship), and I was breastfed for six months and I went to NYU. Point being, we both did well and it wasn't because of how we were fed. I am nursing my daughter because that's my choice and I think she is getting optimal nutrition. For those who formula feed, they are doing what they can. I consider myself a moderate, respectful of all.

My baby has such a hard problem making a bowel movement. Pretty much every time he has to go, he strains so much and he crys and is so stiff and his belly is real hard. I don't know if it's the formula or what but is this normal or should he go to the doctor?
