As a first time mother when a friend of mine told me that her doc told her that giving a baby children's cold medicine could make it worse I was stunned. Does anyone know if this is really true or not. If it isn't I don't want to sound like an idiot to my doc by calling him to ask that question. Could someone please help? Thank you sooo much!

I have a 6 month old baby that recently started on formula (one and a half week ago). Three days after starting with it, my baby started awakening between 12pm - 3am. I thought she felt sick because of formula but if this was the reason, she would be like that all day long. If I gave her an additional bottle at that hour, she will sleep all night long, maybe until 10am! I am scared of overfeeding and of making a bad routine habit. If I don't give her a bottle, I can calm her down but she cries a lot...I think she also wants mommy and daddy to pick her up for a while. I'm desperate, I don't know what to do. I tried the cruel tactic of letting her cry but it doesn't work with her. She cries harder and harder...Have you gone through this process? Please help, I'm in desperate need of help.

I know there are some hospitals in bigger cities that honor unprepared mothers by taking in their babies if the mother abandons them there. Does anyone know if there are adoption programs at these hospitals? Also, is adoption always insanely expensive? About how much?

My son sleeps through the night and is a dream to have as a first time mum.we have a really close relationship, will another so close destroy this? I was just wondering how other mums have handled similar age gaps? Is it worth it in the long run?

I'm living in China and I would really like to get some kind of baby class before I have the baby but they don't seem to have any here. I have no idea how to feed/ diaper/ bathe/ hold/ carry...well let's just say I know jack about babies...AND I'm more than 6 months pregnant. I spent 10 years in the Army and none of my friends or family have had small children...since then I have been living in China. My family is still in America so that makes them helping out kind of hard. Any suggestions?

My husband is overseas at work and it doesn't look like he'll be hom in time for the baby to be born. Is it possible to have the baby and come home and take care of my newborn (just after labour) and my 6 year old by myself? We just moved here this summer and so I don't know alot of people yet.. but I am sure my daughter can have a sleep over for a few days at a school friends. I really don't want my family as they cause me stress and I don't know how I'd cope with stress at this time.. I'd rather do it alone... could I do that?

The government apparently wants us all to give our newborn Vitamin K and Hep B injections, but you shouldn't give your child Hep B injection when it's sick or has allergies, but how do we know they're allergic at birth! Vitamin K is not found in human body or breast milk so are the repercussions of not getting this injection really common?

Is it a normal behavior for a teething baby to push the bottle away? I thought that the counter-pressure felt good on their sore gums. She has been doing this for days now...barely drinking half of her bottle at each feeding. I've tried refrigerating the bottle, also warming it. She just doesn't want it...she's got to be hungry. Her teeth are starting to erupt through the gums now, should her pain last much longer? Will she be more eager to eat once her teeth are through, or are they still going to cause pain for a while? I've tried it all (oragel, tylenol, refrigerated teething toys, cold washcloths, rubbing her gums) and nothing seems to help. She is very big for her age, so her decreased appetite worries me. As a first time mom, any advise would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

Ok this is a tough one for me and i need a good answer.. I just had a new baby girl she is 1 month old, I changed her from milk formula to soy cause i couldnt fig out why she was crying so much (with my drs permission) i was really thinkin it was colic cause it usually starts in the evening and lasts 4 hrs with nothing calming her down .. but in the daytime hrs she crys all day and she Will calm down if she is held 24/7 .. i just cant do it cause i have a 2 year old that needs my attention just as well.... what i need to know is.. is it ok to let a 1 month old cry a little instead of having her in my arms all day and not being able to give my other child the attention he needs .. if u can let her cry how long in both situations- the colic at night and the needy baby in the day..please please help!
