any ideas on getting my 5 month old son to drink water,he has a few sucks then realises its not milk and screams....id love to get him into the habit of drinking a couple of ounces a day.......my gran says put sugar in it but i dont like this idea....

All babies need water to keep their systems on track. It also hydrates them. Let me tell you, you don't want a dehydrated child. You can add some Karo Syrup, that worked for me.

At this point he doesn't need the water. He needs to get his nutrition from breastmilk or formula. I wouldnt push the water. Wait till he's closer to 12months. If you just want to get him onto a sippy cup that's one thing, but I'd just let him practice. Personally, I'd be careful with it, he rejects when it's not "milk", I'd be concerned he may form an aversion away from drinking if he doesnt get the milk, and go on a little "strike"... and dont put sugar in there. His little system doesnt need it.
