Be thankful you only have 25 pounds to lose!! I am at 36 weeks with my second child, and I already have over 60!

as far as exercise, cardio is the best way to go. yep, it's cold in NY for jogging... you could go to a gym to use the machines (like treadmill, elliptical, etc), or just go to the mall to walk. with my first baby (i gained 55 pounds), i got a couple of those exercise-with-your-infant videos. they were actually fun, and my baby loved it! and i am sure there are classes at your local community center or gym that you could take, with or without your baby. And for a great low-impact workout for your belly, you can get a large exercise ball, and just sit on that every time you eat, watch tv, feed your baby, whatever. it wont wear you out, and it is super easy, but you may be surprised how much it can help your core muscles get back in shape.

losing weight after a baby is just like losing weight any other time. decrease calories, increase exercise. if you are nursing, however, keep in mind that you need about 500 calories more per day than you did when you were pregnant! also remember that many women lose all but 5 pounds or so, and then get stuck there. since you gained so little weight you probably won't have too much trouble losing it, as long as you eat right and exercise at least a little bit.

by the way, you should also check with your OB to be sure your body is up to exercising already. if you had a vaginal birth you are probably just fine, but sometimes with a c-section 5 weeks is not long enough. good luck and congrats on your baby!

Firstly, congrats on your new baby! My advice would be not to try and rush your weight loss, remember it took 9 months to put on -and you might get discouraged if it doesn't come off as quickly as you would like. The best way is by eating as healthy and varied a diet as you can - if you are breastfeeding remember that you will need extra calories to make good milk and have enough energy.
Start your excersise routine slowly, your body is still recovering from having the baby - I have found yoga and pilates to be helpful.
You said it is too cold for jogging - how about an aerobics tape, even for 20 mins a day at first while bubs is asleep?
Good luck - I know you will be back in shape in no time!!

You might not lose it in 4-6 weeks, because it took me about 4 months to lose 20 lbs and I'm in the military and I was running 3-5 miles 3 times a week. Just eat healthy, if its too cold to jog, walk. Take it slow so you don't hurt yourself. Think about it, it took you 9 months to put on the weight, it's going to take longer than 6 weeks to get it off.

Unless you go on a strict diet and join the gym, you're not going to lose it very quickly. That is, unless you have an awesome metabolism. With my first pregnancy, I gained a total of 45-pounds (I went from 125 to 170). I didn't start trying to lose it until about a year later. I quit drinking sodas and eating sweets (candy, since that's my weakness) and joined a gym. In less than two months, I was back to my pre-pregnancy weight. However, I still had that jiggle in my belly that I was trying to get rid of but found out I was pregnant again before I had a chance to! My doctor told me that your stomach won't go back to normal for at least 2-years, but with a lot of patience and determination, I think one could do it. If you can't join a gym, try the pilates videos or buy an elliptical machine or stationary bike. Those things work wonders!

my son is also five weeks old and I already lost all of the baby weight.26 pounds. at night when i rock him to sleep i exercise with him in my arms as i sing to him. It gets two things done at once. .

slow dancing holding him, hold him and bend your knees, i would do this for a hour every night, when I would have energy i started doing it during the day. It really works for me.

Just eat healthy and try to do exercises around the house (workout tapes). AFter I had my son he weighed a TON and I think he contributed to my weight loss lifting him UP and DOWN, lol

but I started right away like two weeks after he was born. and I lost the baby weight plus an extra 10lbs.

The big body ball is only about $10-$20 at sporting good stores or drug stores or discount stores and works out all the parts of your body especially your abs.

I lost all my baby weight by 12 weeks with no dieting or any kind of exercise through breast feeding only. It works....at least it did for me.
