I'm living in China and I would really like to get some kind of baby class before I have the baby but they don't seem to have any here. I have no idea how to feed/ diaper/ bathe/ hold/ carry...well let's just say I know jack about babies...AND I'm more than 6 months pregnant. I spent 10 years in the Army and none of my friends or family have had small children...since then I have been living in China. My family is still in America so that makes them helping out kind of hard. Any suggestions?

Hopefully it will come to you when the baby comes!

You do not have to clean umbilical cord with anything unless dr says too. If you want to use alcohol and a cotton ball.

be sure baby is always propped up while eating! if they are laying flat then they can choke and get earaches very easily!

diaper.. be sure to have plenty of wipees and a towel or something underneath baby just in case.

Sponge baths are good for first week or so, or until umbilical cord comes off! and circumcision if they had one!

Holding... well you'll get that down when the baby comes!

They say not to clip nails at first because their nails are so soft and its very easy to get their skin! file is good

They say not to use powder on its bottom due to inhalation of the powder!
When you pack for hospital be sure to take for baby
clothes
onesies
carseat
baby mittens are great! so they do not scratch their face!
blanket or 2
baby book
For Yourself
comfortable loose clothes
plenty of underwear
lip balm
some big pads.. you may need some for way home if very far!
hygiene products
slippers and or socks
maybe a book if you like to read
phone numbers or list of people to call
CAMERA

Babies are lots of fun! if you ever have any other questions then feel free to email me at butrflykisses84@yahoo.com

Ok I hope this helps you!!!!!!!!!!!!

Get the book "What to Expect the First Year." It is by the same people who wrote "What to Expect When You're Expecting." It is a great book that will help you with milestones and help you understand what you should be doing.

Trust me...your maternal instincts are going to kick in as soon as they hand you that baby. Just have faith in yourself that you know what to do. Women were having babies for thousands of years before any information was published on what you are supposed to do. If you have faith in yourself, you will be fine. You insticts will tell you what to do and you will be a great mom.

Most of the time a birthing center, where the women have their babies, offer parenting classes, otherwise check out online tutorials. But Honey, your natural mother instincts WILL be there as soon as you hold your little one. Thats why they call them instincts, its natural. You'll know exactly what to do when you need to do it. I was scared too, but then it all just came to me as I went. I love being a mommy, ( I miss sleeping though)

a surprise every single second ,relax and enjoy being a mommy .
classes don't teach you crap,kid's don't come with instruction's .
you learn naturally ,it would help if you had family ,find people around you with children ,because after you have your baby ,you going find out the Friend's you been hanging with ,don't have nothing in common with you ,because that's all you going to talk its about your baby ,baby's consume all your time ,you will be lucky to have a 5minute shower in peace .

Look inside your heart. You're a mother now, you'll know what to do. That's how I learned.
