I know there are some hospitals in bigger cities that honor unprepared mothers by taking in their babies if the mother abandons them there. Does anyone know if there are adoption programs at these hospitals? Also, is adoption always insanely expensive? About how much?

no they don't, adoption is only expensive if you go threw some of the private agency. I have started my process of adoption with my state(MA) agency(DSS) wich is free the don't charge you anything for adoption and foster care, check with your local children service's.
