It depends how long you stopped feeding for & how established your milk supply was. I'd say start pumping between feeds. Keep putting your baby on the breast if she'll take it. Start right now & don't stop until you can get yourself to a doctor or nurse for further advice. If you have a small amount of milk you have a chance, however if your milk supply is totally diminished then it may be harder. Just don't wait any longer.

If your milk is totally gone I dont think you can do anything? I had this problem with my first son as he was 2 months prem and was in scbu for a while. I tried breast feeding but he was too small so I expressed but with all the problems that were going on, not sleeping or eating and running to and from the hospital 3 times a day my milk just disappeared. I felt really disapointed but you know, these days formula does a good enough job. The best bit of your breast milk is the first bit anyway. You have done a good thing as some mothers dont bother at all. Don't be worried. xx

The breast is more of a machine that you'd expect. If the nipple is stimulated sufficiently, milk will be produced, even in women who have adopted a baby. Latch the baby on when she/he is hungry when the sucking is the strongest, even if you have to give a bottle a few minutes later. Do this each time the baby is hungry or cries for comfort and before long milk will be back.
For sore nipples I used Nelson's hypercal cream; worked a treat. Rotasept also works, as long as you are not allergic to lanolin which I am. Good luck.

First relax. You'll never get good let down if your so stressed and worried all the time. Second feed your baby often and pump with an electric pump in between nursing session. That's really the only way to increse or try to et back yoru supply. There are herbal remeidies like tea and stuff you can try but they can really do much more to hurt your supply than help it. Also you could try and ask your dr. for an Rx. of reglan it's supposed to help increase your supply but there was a recent study that shows it doesn't really do to much as once though. so nurse nurse nurse and pump pump pump like try only doing that for like 3 days and you should get some back maby not your "full" supply like you once had but something is better than nothing right? Also try calling a lactation nurse or the local le leche league near you they can help!

Get advice off you midwife or health visitor, but my advice is the only way you will make milk is by feeding your baby, you body has a natural instinct to make milk if your feeding... don't express, the milk wont produce with out the contact between you and the baby.
Also use nipple shields for sore nips, they are fantastic!!

mine slowed down quite a bit when I went back to work because i wasnt breast feeding as much, i realized though i was taking so much away from my baby I fed her as often as possible, even if nothing comes out , keep letting your baby suck on the nipple, eventually your body will come to meet its "supply-and-demand". I did that and now, 8 months later im still breast feeding, alot, and my milk comes in throughout the day.

I read somewhere that you could resume breastfeeding any time.. Maybe use a pump to get the milk coming again..
For sore nipples get some Lansinoh cream (UK), it's good, you don't have to wash it off before feeding.

Pump and drink dark beer. Those are the only 2 ways I know how to increase milk production.

You need to pump to stimulate milk production. Also taking fenugreek supplements and mother's tea should help your milk to come in.

perserverance is the key here, if you express everyday as well as offering your breast to your baby at every feed then gradually your milk supply should build up. i hope this works out for you.
