The past couple of days he falls asleep in my arms and a minute after I lay him in his bassinette he starts crying. Last night me and my husband just let him sleep with us we were so tired I know I'm not supposed to sleep with him in our bed, I don't want to do it again. What can I do, I'm a new mom?

I've read so many conflicting answers on this subject.

I've heard that:

You should wait for six months no matter what.
You should look for X, Y, Z signs, no matter what age.
Cereal counts as a solid.
Cereal does not count as a solid.
Cereal is a great practice food.
Cereal is pointless.

I'm so confused. With my daughter, I gave her some rice cereal at a little over 4 months, mostly from pressure from her pediatrician and also from family. She wasn't really into it so I only offered it once a week or so for the next month or two after that. She really didn't eat a ton of solids until 1.

My son is 3 months old, and I just KNOW at his 4 month check up that his ped. is going to tell me to start solids. I plan on waiting until 6 months at least. But is that right? Should I be looking for physical signs instead of watching the clock? How do I stick up for myself/my son when I meet with the bully doctor? There's no doctor to switch to, so please don't suggest that.

My niece is here staying with me until Sunday evening. Today (Tuesday), Wednesday, and Sunday I need some activities to with her. So far we have done everything I can think of.
-Dress up.
-Tea Party
-Watched TV
-Play Dolls
-Talked.
-etc.

I need some new easy things that can keep her occupied for a while, or at least for the next couple of hours and other two days that I will be having her alone.

Its storming so doing something outdoors at this time is not an option.

She is three.

Thank you.

I had a one night stand with an ex and had a sweet little boy 9 months later. The "father" made it very clear that he wanted nothing to do with us and is now married to another woman. My husband and I have raised this baby as our own son and we are very happy and now live in another state. I am scared that the biological father will come back some day and demand that he be able to see his son. Does he or will he have any rights to our son? Do I need to get him to legally give up rights (he openly denys paternity) to put this to rest? The thought that our family could one day be torn apart haunts me and I need some advice. Thanks!

We were together for 3 1/2 years and I broke up with him a couple months ago. We still remain good friends mainly because we have a son together. He comes over every weekend to visit him. His family is six hours away and he said he doesn't have the money to drive there. He has stated that he has become depressed since we broke up and I don't want to add to it by leaving him by himself for Thanksgiving. It will be our son's first TG but he is only 4 months old and it's not like he will be joining us at the table to eat. I also moved back home with my parents and they really could care less if he came-they don't like him much. I will feel so guilty if I don't . But I can't keep inviting him forever. When do I cut it off? After Christmas? Then he is on his own? HELP!!!!

First off, I'm not pregnant, don't have kids, and I won't for a while. Anyway, back to the point...

I don't want any of my future kids to believe in Santa. I never really did. My parents never said he was real, but never said he wasn't either. I thought the whole thing was stupid when I did find out for myself.

So, I don't even want my kids to start off with that belief, I think it's unnecessary.
My question then is this: How would I keep my kids from telling other people's kids that Santa isn't real? I know some kids get really traumatized when they find out, and I know a lot of parents want their kids to believe.
I don't want to offend anyone or have other people's kids come home crying because my child said there was no such thing.

It's a delicate subject I think, and I want to know the best way to go about it.

My 5 month old son has lost all interest in nursing during the day. I tried using his schedule, but it was making me nuts, he'd only eat at night and seemed to be up every hour. I've gone to feeding him a few bottles of formula during the day, which he happily gobbles down. I've tried nursing him in a quiet room during the day, but he really just seems to want formula. At night he doesn't care. He's now only getting up a couple of times in the night to nurse. I'm okay with feeding him formula during the day. However, can I maintain a milk supply for feeding him this way? I'm perfectly happy feeding him this way, provided I can nurse him still at night. The idea of doing bottles at 3am isn't very appealing!

Healthy ladies wouldn't never understand but its a struggle when u have pcos and not knowing if you'll be able to concieve, its hurtin me daily knowing that I have to wake up another day and seeing new pregnant faces around me, I Have been trying for so many years and not able to conceive, I mean we have to struggle with not being able to conceive without all the medication, we have to suffer from depression because of acne, skin tags, facail hair etc, Having pcos means we need to have a high paying job, I mean all of my pay checks mostly goes to trying to keep myself healthy as possible because the pcos can lead you to type 2 diabetes, heart cancer, blood clots etc, are life is like totally not fair, I can't enjoy my money because I have to buy metformin in order to keep my hormones level so I can have a monthly cycle if we don't have a monthly cycle we can easily catch cervical cancer, I mean this diease is at high risk with almost every thing.

I have no idea what my child's biological father has been up to for the last 15 years. He has had nothing to do with our child, has had no contact, has not contributed financially or otherwise to her care in any way. I've heard he's been in and out of trouble with the law, estranged from his own family of origin for many years, until recently.
He had his mother call us to talk to our daughter, and then when they had something planned together he showed up. He won't talk to me or my husband (who has raised my daughter with me) about meeting with her or spending time with her.
Our daughter is obviously curious about her dad, I don't want to cut him out of her life but I don't like the way he is sneaking around us to see her. I'd be fine with him coming to the house to spend time with her, I don't know who he is, what he's been up to, what kind of a person he is, I don't feel comfortable with what is going on.
So now what do I do?

Middle name will be Lee...
Preferably an Irish or Celtic name, maybe Norse...doesn't HAVE to be either of those. Nothing TOO common. Thanks ^^

I'm not asking what you think of the name. It is my name and I love it. Besides, I don't need feelings hurt with people who absolutely hate it. My question is to ask how many of you know anybody with the name Brandolyn?

I am 17&my baby is due in April w/ my husband that I married in July of this year.
We went to a baby store to look@cribs&an older woman asked us if we needed anything, when we told her that we were looking for cribs she asked who we were buying for.We told her that it was for our baby, that was due in April. She then asked how old we were,I told her that I'm 17 & that he is 19.She shook her head&then said that she would be right back. When she came back she said that she needed to help another customer. So we started looking at stuff by ourselves.I sat down in one of the rocking chairs because my back was killing me.There were NO signs saying to not sit on them. When the lady noticed me sitting in the rocker, she came over&instead of just asking me to get up,she said that we needed to leave the store because no one was allowed to sit on furniture. As she showed us to the door, she said,"Next time bring your parents,we don't allow CHILDREN in our store unattended."
What should I have done?

I was talking to a girlfriend of mine. She is recently remarried to a great guy who has an eleven year old son. Every other weekend when the son comes over she has to sleep alone. The dad and son sleep together in a different bedroom. She hates sleeping by herself and thinks the son is old enough to sleep alone. . .I agree. . .but how could she approach this subject with her husband?
