Some of my children were not night sleepers, some were.
( I had 6 babys)
I usually fed my babies Pablum before they'd do to sleep.
Then they wouldn't get to hungry at night.
I gave them ONE bottle around 3:00 A. M.
Some had to learn to cry it out...I'd let them cry 15 min.
then go in and check, tell them they're fine, shut the door and keep at it till they learn the habit of falling back to sleep without the bottle.
It's hard at first but after 2-3 weeks she will get it.
* although one yr. old is quite young yet, so don't be too hard on her, but wean her gently first by giving her only 2 bottles and not 3 at night, then eventually give her only 1 bottle.
hope I helped you out here.

Don't let her fall asleep with the bottle. Give her the bottle about an hour before she would normally go to sleep.
If she wakes up in the middle of the night, give her water. If she gets mad, that's fine, let her be mad. Then let her go back to sleep. If she throws a fit that's fine. She will eventually go back to sleep. Pretty soon this will stop and there won't be anymore night wakings either.
I just started this with my son. He cries for a little bit and then stops and relaxes and plays with his bear and eventually goes to sleep. This has made things much easier at night for us. He's 10 months old.

Please please please don't use Babywise! This book is dangerous and has been associated with causing failure to thrive in babies.
As for your daughter, maybe she is still hungry and feeds at night because she is very busy during the day playing and having fun and forgets to eat. Try seeing if she will take more snacks or meals during the day to see if she sleeps longer stretches at night. Age one is young, and their tummy is still small. Even adults get up and have water or a quick snack in the middle of the night, why are children then expected to be the whole night without eating when it's obvious they are hungry?
I would make sure though that she rinses her mouth out with water, so that she doesn't get cavities.

Is she eating enough? At one this is more of a weaning issue and not so much a hunger one. Are you ready to wean her off her nite time bottles.. if so there are a few different ways. My favorite is to begin adding water to her bottles until she can't stand the taste, this should take a week or so. Or you can just let her cry.

Why does your pediatrician say to take away night feedings? Babies get hungry at night, why make them go hungry.
My son is 12 months and he still nurses at night. No problems here.
I would say keep feeding your littl'n at night and ignore the pediatricians "well-meaning" advice. Just as long as you aren't propping your baby's bottle and leaving it there all night, I say you don't need to change what you are doing regarding feeding at night.

How old is your daughter? You should never let a baby cry through feedings and the truth is, you can't make a child stop feeding at night, your child has to do it on her own. Eventually, she will sleep longer periods at night, but until then you should really continue feeding her when she asks to be fed.

She will stop her night feedings when she is ready to do so. Forcing her to do it sooner than she is ready is in no one's best interests. Ignore your pediatrician and listen to your baby.
