Pregnancy & Parenting - 15 November 2007

We had to cancel my son's 4th birthday party because his best friend has symptoms of the pink eye.
So it will be just me, my spouse, and our little boy. Since we are too tired to cook a homemade meal and bake a cake, is it tacky if just 3 of us go to Olive Garden to celebrate our little one's birthday? We will bring his birthday gifts to open at the restaurant.

I just gave birth one week ago, by way of C-sec, and I have this huge flap of skin that hangs down. I remember a little flap with my first child that went away really quickly, but this thing looks like it will never go away. I am skinny otherwise and had only gained the bare minimum that one should gain during pregnancy-25 lbs, so it's not like its a bunch of flab. Can I possibly get rid of this eventually? My husband won't say anything, but come on-it's gross! I can't afford surgery.......I would just like to hear from women who have had this.

Today i got a call from the school that my son drank from a milk carton and placed it back among the unopened ones and he was going to get another when he was spotted and i was also told it's a health issue and that there is the issue of staph infection going arround.Anyway my son was suspended from school and when i told them it's going to be while to pick him up,the vice-principal said that he can't be let back in to the class with other student, that he will have to be kept in another room,untill i come and this upset me so much 'cause my son is a perfectly healthy child and i do not see the reason for him to be alienated or quaratined from his peers.To me they went too far as per the suspention and the keeping him in a seperate room till he can be picked up is going to far.He is a well behaved child and what happened today surprised me.I fear that when he gets back to school he might be not be allowed to have lunch with is peers and i don't know what else they will do,place him in

I have calculated my ovulation days and I believe that I conceived the day I ovulated. Does that mean I'm pregnant?

p.s When an ovulation calender shows that you're very fertile and you conceived on those days, is it likely you'll become preg?

He's 15 years old. I never really thought about it until she asked me this afternoon. Back when I was little, we tutored guys in math for a Chirstmas present, so I really have no clue.

I'm 26 and my boyfriend is 33. We've been together for over 6 years and have a house together. He's getting older and won't come out and say he wants a kid, but he has dropped so many hints and one day I said we could have one and he was grinning ear to ear. Sometimes I want one and other times no. I still have time, but he doesn't want to be an old man by the time the child graduates highschool, I can understand. I'm about to finish a degree in school and finally start a real job so I just don't know if I want to stop now and have a kid. He is an engineer and could support us, but will I regret a later start on my career if I have a kid? I also don't want to let my youth pass me by and get older and wish I had had children. So, opinions anyone? I would appreciate it. And, yes, we would probably get married before having any children....

my daughter is 8 months and she is attached to me (her mother) she wont stay with anyone for more than 15 mins if that she wont sleep in her own bed, she's slept with me since birth because she always threw fits when I put her in her crib or bassinet, I am getting ready to attend college and I dont know if it is possible with her, I cant even get her to go to bed unless I go to bed if someone could help that would be great!!!!!!!!!

My baby has been "dropped" since 34 weeks. Today I'm having A LOT of pressure down there, painful pressure. And it's making the muscles in my groin cramp. My feet are swollen and and I've been having some cramping and pains in my low back. Also my appetite has been very poor today. I know it's too soon for labor but how much longer do you think it's going to be? I'm miserable...should I go to the doctor? His office is closed but I could go to e.r. My next o.b. appointment isn't until tuesday. Also I have been having some sharp pains in my vagina. Anyone experience all this?

Yes - I am an absolute HPT freak! I buy the tests in bulk as often as I can, and start testing myself about 2-3 times a day, at about 7DPO - to make sure I pick up even the slightest sign of pregnancy as early as I can! Unfortunately, it's been 3 months of BFNs so far... Hopefully one day I'll see two bold lines next to eachother!

Is anyone else as excited/paranoid as I am??

I'll start!

My husband has a Christmas Party at work. He works at a very nice place, and I don't know his co-workers as well as he does. I was four months pregnant, and still suffering with bad morning sickness. I started to feel sick so I went outside for a little fresh air with my husand. We walked back in with him and his arm around me, but within 10 seconds I was out of his grip, squatting down and puking all over the carpet of the party room. Atleast I had a pregnant belly, unlike a lot of other first time moms at 4 months. I'm still embarrased to even see some of those people!

i am having nonproductive contractions and dilated to a "loose 1" but doctor won't induce untill i am OVER DUE. Is there anything I can do to help bring on stronger labor contractions?

when my baby first started eating at 5 monmths, he loved his food! he used to eat so much that sometimes i would stop feeding him so much so he could still have room for my milk! but ever since hes had his 6 teeth come out with sooo much hassle, he doesnt eat anymore. this has been going on for nearly 2 months. he doesnt want any food. i give him fingers foods and he will eat that until he gets bord and starts throwing about. recently ive become so worried that ive started trying to force the poor guy, but i cnt stand his tears so i give up :( i dont know what to do anymore. i went to the health visitor and she said to be firm on him and if he is like that in a months time than we will have to tlk to a dietician about it. has anyone gone through this as i can tell my babys face is tiny than before. i dont want him losing anymore weight. please give me your advice and stories if you have been through it what did you do and ho long did it take your child to start eating proply again.

Ok i had intercourse with my partner this morning, straight away,after sex i wiped myself (sorry if its disgusting) and i was bleeding, not bright red blood, more like a pink smear. I had no pain and normal braxton hicks contractions on orgasm. Also, baby has since been moving as normal. It was gentle intercourse, nothing rushed and it wasnt dry. Im just a bit worried as to whether or not this is normal. I should also mention that i went to antenatal yesterday and baby is head down and 2/5 engaged with 6 weeks still to go. Does this push the cervix closer to the front of my vagina or not?
