when my baby first started eating at 5 monmths, he loved his food! he used to eat so much that sometimes i would stop feeding him so much so he could still have room for my milk! but ever since hes had his 6 teeth come out with sooo much hassle, he doesnt eat anymore. this has been going on for nearly 2 months. he doesnt want any food. i give him fingers foods and he will eat that until he gets bord and starts throwing about. recently ive become so worried that ive started trying to force the poor guy, but i cnt stand his tears so i give up :( i dont know what to do anymore. i went to the health visitor and she said to be firm on him and if he is like that in a months time than we will have to tlk to a dietician about it. has anyone gone through this as i can tell my babys face is tiny than before. i dont want him losing anymore weight. please give me your advice and stories if you have been through it what did you do and ho long did it take your child to start eating proply again.

You are a first time mom aren't you? I have four kids. Believe me when they are hungry they will eat. You worry way too much. Your baby is doing fine. Children go through stages and as they get older the stages can be even more stressful. Enjoy him and don't worry. He is fine.

I am in a similar situation... my son is 10 1/2 months old and is still breastfed. He has 8 teeth now and is really teething and also has a runny nose.... I noticed lately that he hasn't had the appetite as he usually does.... and feeding time is usually a fight! If he doesn't feel good then usually does not want to eat to much.... I also find that when he is like this It's not a good time to try new foods.... I have also been persistent with trying to feed him... sometimes it works and sometimes it does not.... If he does not want to eat I put the food in the fridge and try again in an hour and usually he will eat it then....
If a baby is hungry they will eat! Continue breastfeeding as usual.... NEVER decrease the amount of breastfeeding even when the baby eats solids! Regardless of the babies diet they still need the breast milk/formula under 1 1/2 years.
Continue being persistent and if your baby really fights it put the food away and try again later... if that doesn't work try a different food that you know they like.... my sons default foods are rice cereal and apple sauce.... good luck and keep in close touch with your child's doctor!

My daughter wouldn't eat when she was teething. It was to uncomfortable to put anything in her mouth. When they are teething some babies don't get as hungry, suppresses their appetite. So if your son is having lots of teeth come through at once this is probably why he has stopped eating. He's most likely taking the breast more because he is hungry(but doesn't hurt is gums) and for comfort because he is sore. His eating habits might have changed to, because he isn't as hungry as he use to be. My daughter was a GREAT eater when we 1st introduced solids, but after a couple months all she wanted was the breast again. In the end I gave up breastfeeding at 10 months so we could concentrate more on real food. I'm not saying that you stop breastfeeding him, it's best for him till at least 1 year. It's just what worked for us. Maybe re-introduce food to him. 1 at a time. might help, might not. As long as he is still gaining weight I wouldn't be to worried. He will start eating food again when he's ready. Good luck

Give yourself and him a break. If he is drinking the milk then let him drink as much as he can.
Back off of the solids for a bit and see how he does. There is no reason to stress either one of you out. Just make sure he gets plenty of milk a day. He will not starve himself.
Once you get back to normal and you are comfortable, offer him some small solids, easy and yummy stuff like sweet potatoes, soft fruit or anything you think he used to like.
He is only 10 months old. The indroduction of solids is just to get the used to it and not expected to provide much nourishment. So go with the milk and then try some solids here and there. I think if you stop making it a stuggle he will stop resisting.
For example. Breast feed him and them a little later, maybe while you are making dinner (or lunch or what ever) put him in the high chair with a few items to try. Just let him play. I think if you keep doing this he will try them again.
Don't worry. His face might be thinner becuase he grew. Also babies go through cycles just like we do where they might not be as hungry, and then they can eat the entire kitchen. Both of mine have done this. My youngest is 11 months now. She does not like the bottle much and I have to feed her in her room with the lights dim to get her to finish, but she will eat what looks like an adult portion of green beans! Who knows!
Remember milk should be the primary form of nutrient for at least the first year.
You are doing fine. Just make sure the Dr. is watching his weight gain to be sure.

Oh goodness, please don't force him to eat solids if he isn't interested. Let him nurse as much as he wants to, and continue to OFFER small portions of foods several times a day.
I've known a number of breastfed babies who didn't eat solids until after 1 year. My own didn't eat much until she was nearly 2. The goal of feeding solids at this age is just to introduce him to the idea of eating and to let him explore different tastes and textures. The majority of his diet should be milk, and your breast milk has everything he needs right now.
Your health visitor sounds like she doesn't have a clue...

a newborn his age could desire to be ingesting 24+oz..of formulation or breast milk in a 24 hr era. How frequently or the quantity in line with feeding particularly does not count, merely the typical quantity. My daughter is breastfed, so i won't have the capacity to furnish you a concept of ways plenty she liquids in line with nursing, yet she takes milk approximately 6 or 7 situations an afternoon.

I have a 6year old. Trust me, when they get hungry they will eat. You just have to limit the amount of breast milk that you are giving him. Remember, you have to show that your will is stronger than his.
