Ok i had intercourse with my partner this morning, straight away, after sex i wiped myself (sorry if its disgusting) and i was bleeding, not bright red blood, more like a pink smear. I had no pain and normal braxton hicks contractions on orgasm. Also, baby has since been moving as normal. It was gentle intercourse, nothing rushed and it wasnt dry. Im just a bit worried as to whether or not this is normal. I should also mention that i went to antenatal yesterday and baby is head down and 2/5 engaged with 6 weeks still to go. Does this push the cervix closer to the front of my vagina or not?
Thanks in advance to all who answer.

ohhhhh this is very normal. a tthis stage in pregnnacy your cervix is very sensitive and soft. i bled quite often during sex when iwa s pregnnat, i ask the doc she said it was normal and ive also read it plenty of palces. also your cervix may be effacing which causes it to thin which is also normal in pregnancy. just relax

A pinkish discharge is normal at about 34 weeks, you start to lose some of the mucus around this time, but you cervix is always producing more so nothing to worry about. Some women lose their mucus plug all together ( in that case you will see some brownish blood stain), if that happens again call your doctor so she may check for dialation and so forth.
Semen also has prostaglandines, which can help stimulate delivery, so try using a condom for these last weeks.

If i was you i would be on the phone to NHS Direct... (or you should have your midwife emergancy contact number)
there is a possibility you have had whats known as a 'show' be any sign of blood in whatever form should be medically checked out PROFESSIONALLY even if only to stop you being stressed and passing this on the the baby.
Best safe than sorry and you are NOT wasting anyones time by getting checked

Good Luck
& Congratulations when all goes well for you.

i would call the delivery room and explain to them what happened, they may ask you to go in to have things checked, but when this happened to me i was told it was normal as the cervix has an increased blood supply to allow for the baby and that even gentle sex can cause a blood vessel to pop.
im guessing that all the scans have been clear and you dont have a low lying placenta or anything.

as you have said the baby has been moving normally i dont think you have too much to worry abou tbut if you call your local delivery suite and speak to a midwife they will be able to put your mind at rest, they were a god send when i was pregnant and are very helpful and understanding. your baby is the most importnant thing in the world and a quick phone call will reassure you if nothing else!

It's common to bleed after sex when you are that far along, but let your doc know that you experienced this. Your doc may want to do an ultrasound to make sure all is well, but you are so close that unless you are high risk, your doc probably won't be worried since you only had light spotting.

It is quite common, but you need to refrain from sex until after you have spoken to your doctor. If your cervix is even only slightly open you can introduce infection into the womb which is serious. Just get checked out to be on the safe side. Good Luck xx

bleeding after sex is quite normal providing its not heavy or you have no pains and baby is moving. if your worried then see your doc. im not sure if the more baby is engaged the further it pushes the cervix down you would have to ask your midwife/doc about that but with my 1st baby she was engaged from 30 weeks and my 2nd was 3/5 engaged and i hardly ever had bleeding after sex.

I had the same thing happen and I asked my doctor. She said that it was probably a little bit of the mucus plug that leaked out. She said it was very normal but you may want to stay away from sex. Ask your doctor for more details, but it didnt sound like a major thing to me. When I had sex with my hubby, it came with pain so maybe thats why she told me to stay away from it.

It's normal to spot after sex while pregnant. Your cervix is very tender. If you're concerned, give your doc a shout.

Check with your doctor, but it may be hormonally induced cervical erosion where cells that are normally inside come round into a more acid environment and get damaged more easily (very roughly put), which may sound alarming, but isn't! But do check with your doc to be able to not worry
