Today i got a call from the school that my son drank from a milk carton and placed it back among the unopened ones and he was going to get another when he was spotted and i was also told it's a health issue and that there is the issue of staph infection going arround.Anyway my son was suspended from school and when i told them it's going to be while to pick him up,the vice-principal said that he can't be let back in to the class with other student, that he will have to be kept in another room, untill i come and this upset me so much 'cause my son is a perfectly healthy child and i do not see the reason for him to be alienated or quaratined from his peers. To me they went too far as per the suspention and the keeping him in a seperate room till he can be picked up is going to far.He is a well behaved child and what happened today surprised me.I fear that when he gets back to school he might be not be allowed to have lunch with is peers and i don't know what else they will do,place him in

This situation is not right. Just all the way around.

Call the school board, or the state department of education if you cant get anywhere with them.

Its just not right, he should NOT be suspended because of such a little infraction.

Ive used infraction twice today.. what the hell?

He's clearly NOT a well-behaved child if he thought doing what he did was acceptable (or at the very least worth the risk). I'm assuming the real reason the child wouldn't be let back into class is because that wouldn't be a true suspension. It probably has nothing to do with health concerns as far as that goes. He SHOULD have been suspended for what he did. It's gross, wasteful, and as the school pointed out, a health and safety issue. Suspensions aren't supposed to work around what's convenient for parents. They're supposed to INCONVENIENCE the parents and teach the children that there are boundaries which shouldn't be crossed. When he's through with his suspension, life will go on and he'll be allowed to eat with his peers. Just don't be surprised if his teacher keeps a closer eye on him now.

Depends where you live.
I live in canada and the school boards are too soft when it comes to punishing.

I have some relatives in the south (of usa) and in kindergarten, their son got punched by another child, a little girl. I am not saying what he did is right, but he punched her back. But, he just happened to hit her "private place" and was suspended for a week because of sexual harassment.

The 2 kids should have been sent to time out or something, not kicked out of school for sexual harassment, i mean for gods sakes he was 4, a little young to grasp the whole sexual harrassment concept.

I don't think this is too far at all. When children are found not to have mandatory shots when in grade school they are kept away from their peers. The school was just trying to stop an outbreak of possible infection that would hinder other students learning abilities.

If you come across problems with him being allowed around other students, you can try to petition the school or move him to another one. This could have been a serious thing, and they are just doing their jobs to keep everyone safe.

I can't believe he was suspended for that, maybe a after school detention, but suspended!
Schools are going crazy with discipline. Seen on the news the other day a girl was suspended for hugging a friend.
I would call the news and let them know of the injustice that is going on.
It was an innocent prank. they are taking it way to far.

Definitely. It was just a drink and that is such a small innocent prank and the schools need to cut back on discipline drastically. Also if he is perfectly healthy and has nothing that can be spread, than nobody can get sick from him.
