I need a middle name to go with the first name Brendan or Brennan --- any thoughts? I prefer middle name that starts with a letter "A" or "B"...but whatever ideas you have will be appreciated. Thanks.

We just found out last week that we are having a little girl (due in Feb.). I am totally excited! except for one thing - my husband wants to name the baby Helena in honor of my best friend who died a couple of years ago. I think it is a incredibly sweet gesture but I don't think I want to call her that name and be reminded of my grief and sadness every time I say it.

So I suggested that we use Helena as a middle name but so far he doesn't like any of the first names I've come up with - like Rachel and Isabel.

I know I have quite a few months to work on this - but it took forever to get him to agree with our first daughter's name so I have to come up with something soon!

Thanks in advance to everyone who answers! I really appreciate the help!

my husband, daughter and i all have two middle names. Should we give our other children two?

We are unsure alot of people blast us about using two so we thought about only using one middle name for the rest of our children, but will our other children wonder why mommy daddy and sissy all have two and they dont or do you think it will not matter?

Please, grab your husband, have him read this, because I need to get a different point of view...
Our son just turned one. I told my husband that grabbing him away from his toys and whisking him up stairs for a bath was probably not the best way to transition for our son, who screamed the whole way up the stairs and half way through his bath... my husband said it was dumb, and sarcastically tonight told our son, in 5 minutes you're going to get a bath...I also told him that its important for us to read to our son, so I told him I would love to have a night off from this routine- he read the book, but with no feeling and really dull, and skipped over words, I mean my goodness, it was Goodnight moon.... He plays well with our son, and he sure feels the need that our son should respect us (he'll hold our sons hands down if he puts them in front of his mouth during meal time), I just think he is being harsh and unrealistic with the needs of our child at age one. What can I say to him?

My son has been to many doctors. Even a G.I. doctor I can not get him to eat. We have tried powerpacking his food and everything. I am still nursing because I have tried everything to get him to drink milk and he will have nothing to do with it. I tried all different flavors of milk. They tell me nothing major is wrong I just need him to eat. How can I do that? I have done Everything I can think of . Any ideas?

I should qualify this - it is allll day sickness not just morning. I also get motion sickness from being in the car. So not fun. I want some relief! Food looks good but doesn't want to stay down or I just get dry heaves all the time. I am doing all the normal things for it - but want to know when it will go away...

Would you hate it if your initials were X.Y.Z.?

I love the name Xander. I do NOT like the name Alexander, so please don't suggest that.
Our last name starts with a "Z."
We like the name
Xander Yeshaya

Yes, we realize it is rather unique. We also realize that our son's initials would be XYZ. Is that cruel?

My husband and I just came up with it. The name's Callahan Falcon McNeal. We wanted to honour some people who've died but have meant the world to us, my mother and by husband's uncle. My mother's maiden name was Callahan, she died from cancer earlier this year. My husband's uncle was actually named Russell, but he got the nickname Falcon somehow and everyone called him that. He died in '04 in a car accident. Callahan would probably be shortened to "Cal" by the way. So, what do you think? Is it a bit too much or is it cool? Thanks a million to all who answer :-)

Would some one who is adopted be a better adoptive parent then some one who wasn't adopted?

i am just wondering this as i want to eventually adopt a child of my own, and i know how hard it was on me when i was growing up being adopted and knowing that my adoptive mother has no idea what is going through my head or how i feel, i thought this would be a good question, i really would like to hear all of your different opinions on this subject.

thank you in advance

Saying perhaps the child was misbehaving? Would you be offended and turn the parent in to the protection services for abuse?

I have been written up for leaving to pick up my daughter, was told the next time I leave work or miss work I will be fired. How can this be? I take her to the doctor and I'm told that is not a legal excuse. What am I suppose to do?

I live in the north east of the united states and I live in an area that is culturally diversed. I often take my son to storytime and crafts at library and other places, where they have these events, so he can have social skills. I noticed that when I take him places, other parents of the same kind of culture/race/ethnicity or what have you, tend to migrate together, even when I try to befriend them. This is for all cultures/ethnicity not a specific kind of culture/ethnicity. I don't mind befriending my own kind but it seems harder to befriend other ethnicities, while I try to make an effort. I am not prejudice nor racist or dress weird and nor have B.O.
People subconsciously do this and do not realize. I am in an interracial marriage and our kid is mixed. So I don't see the problem here.
This happens alot and it is very annoying. I don't need responses where I'm befriending the wrong kinds of people and it's a numbers game, I already know that.
How would you handle this?

I'm getting tired of all these parents who spank asking questions to non spankers, trying to convince themselves that what they are doing is right. People are entiltled to their opinion, but I would like all of the non violent parents to be able to voice their opinion.

Spankers are welcome to comment too. If you do spank make your best argument for spanking and please try to convince me that hitting your child with your bare hand on their bottom isn't violent.

So far, a crib is the only definite purchase I am making. Some unisex outfits here and there. She is only 4 months pregnant, should I be buying the drawers playpen, carseat, booster and all that mess now? Or should I wait?
