some of the answers ppl gave on here were really aggrivating me.. i am in the same exact situation more or less where the father is an abuser and a controler and feels that he deserves every right to my child even after all he did to me while I was pregnant. now hes pushing for his rights to her when i know its his way of control. if I KNEW he was gonna be abusive of course i WOULDNT have 'opened my legs' as someone else had mentioned & i could imagine she would have done the same if she knew before hand how this guy was gonna turn out to be like. as far as the paternity test goes I am dealing with that right now. it was court ordered by the judge & lemme tell u if there was a way to mess up that test i would in a heartbeat bc having no father is better than him any day for my daughter.. the ppl that disagree to that obviously havnt been in this situation to kno what its like

A man can request anything but the mother doesnt have to give him permission UNLESS there is a court order. However please know this in order for her to get child support paternity has to be established. If she put his name on the birth certificate even though they were not married many states recognize that as 50-50 so she should if she wants to cover her butt and prevent him from showing up one day and taking the child get a court order stating she has physical custody (or full) of the child. Now if he just out of the blue showed up and wanted custody of the child he'd have to PROVE that he was active in the child's life and paid support unless your "friend" can be proven to be a bad parent (and that's really hard to do trust me we tried it with my husbands ex gf who does drugs and is an alcoholic and the judge didnt remove the child) she's nothing to worry about.

I believe that the woman can deny authorization, unless the test was ordered by a judge, then she will have to comply. If the test proves that he is the father, she can go to court to prove that he should not get visitation to the child, since he has not only been an absentee parent, but it sounds like this guy also has some problems that would prevent him from fulfilling his fatherly duties. I hope that this helps.

He would have to go to court and ask the court to have a dna test done. It all really depends on the state. But i have to say one thing if he isnt a good influence then why did she get pregnant by him in the 1st place. and i feel that every child should have a father in his life.

He can go to court and get a court order to have the child tested and then she can't say no. So even if she does say no at the beginning, he could just go to court and get her to say yes.

She can till he takes her to court, if a court order is placed she will have to allow a paternity test to be done.

Yes...and No!
A man can req. the test and may have to go to court to get it. If she thinks he is not good for the child, she should start keeping record of his wrong dues. But sometimes it takes a child to grow up.
also the mother needs to think twice about who she lets in between her legs. If he is not good for her child why would she sleep with him.
you make your bed....you gotta sleep in it
its not fair to the child to deni the father...even if he needs supervised visitations..they still need to know each other.

that would be very selfish of her to deny her child their father.even if he is worthless he has the exact same rights to the child as she does.and yes he can sue for a paternity test just as easy as she can.nowadays it doesn't matter who gives birth or who pays child support.both parents are equal in the eyes of the law

it depends on the state, but all I can say is, get one at all costs. She could come back in 5 years, say you are the father and sue for backed support. Even if it is not your child.
Contact a lawyer ASAP.
