Would you hate it if your initials were X.Y.Z.?

I love the name Xander. I do NOT like the name Alexander, so please don't suggest that.
Our last name starts with a "Z."
We like the name
Xander Yeshaya

Yes, we realize it is rather unique. We also realize that our son's initials would be XYZ. Is that cruel?

To the person who asked what they meanings are:

Xander is Dutch (but considered a variant of the Greek name Alexander) - it means protector or defender of men

Yeshaya is Hebrew and means "God is my salvation"

Yes, Xander Yeshaya is a boy name; we wouldn't dream of naming a girl that name. We would obviously not go around calling him "Xander Yeshaya" - we'd call him Xander. I have a serious problem with "Alexander" (it involves a drunk running down a family member in a car...long story) but we both love "Xander" as a name. We love the way Xander Yeshaya sounds. If the "Yeshaya" is too much though, we'll probably go with my dad's first name as a middle name - and it would be
Xander Charles Z*******
and we talked it over and thought that
Xander Yeshaya Z****** has a better 'ring' to it.

Actually, XYZ is kind of interesting and clever. There is the whole eXamine Your Zipper thing, but I don't think that's significant enough to worry about.

Xander is a great name, and I think it stands on its own without the "Ale" just fine, but I can't tell if it is for a girl or a boy. Is Yeshaya a variant of Joshua or Jesse? It sounds vaguely Hebrew, but I can't pin it down.

So, Xander Yeshaya for a boy, assuming there's some purpose to the Yeshaya? Thumbs up.

For a girl? I'd rethink the names.

Very Interesting!

I have an obsession with names. I changed my own first and middle names last year.

I love Xander and Yeshaya. Very different, strong, meaningful (I checked the origins). I like unique names, but ones that aren't difficult to spell and both of these fit.

I don't think there will be an issue with the initials either.

Just wondering how you thought of the names -- if you are willing to share -- thanks!

Actually, I think it's kind of cool! He'll definitely have one of a kind initials! :) Kind of a conversation starter.

I think Xander is a cute name. Although in all honesty I prefer it with Charles instead of Yeshaya, but that's just my own personal choice. If your heart is set on Yeshaya then I say go for it. How often are middle names actually used anyway? :)

I would hate to have those initials. I do like the name Xander though, and I do not think that it would be too much with a "Z" last name. But you really need to change the middle name to something else.

Yeshaya is horrible. Xander is a nickname, not a first name -- you don't need to call him Alexander, but at least give him the option of using something professional when he's older.

I think it;s fine. How many times do you use your initials in your life? Whenever we used them in school, it was just our first and last. I really liek the name you have picked out! I know someone who's initials were FBS. People would say it stood for "Freaking Buck Stuff" Well, not exactly, but Y!A wouldnt let me tell you the real thing...

I don't think kids care about initials as long as they don't spell a.s.s. or anything like that.

Xander is an AWFUL choice for a name. And his first and last name will start with the same Z sound, which is really quite awkward, Zeke Zelig, for example. YUCK.

I'm not even going to touch that middle name. I can't pronounce it, so why even think about it?

I would seriously rethink things.
