I would spread the purchases out over the next few months. There's no need to rush out and buy everything at once, plus it can get financially crippling! You really only need a crib and 2 sheet sets, change table which is sometimes good to get the kind that have the drawers down the bottom and the changer on top. The best car seat you can afford, again sometimes its a good idea to get the infant to toddler reversible kind so it lasts longer. And a pram is usually a good idea too! I would wait with the playpen for now and get an electric baby swing instead and there isn't a need for a booster till the baby is much older. Don't forget a baby bath too and if you buy gender orientated outfits just keep the receipts and return the ones you don't need. That way your baby won't just be dressed in yellow and white for the first couple of weeks!
Something I also did when buying baby accessories was to get one thing a week like a packet of nappies, wipes, dummies, bibs or baby bath when I did the grocery shopping. I waited until something was on special then bought it and spread the cost over 6 mths rather than getting all that stuff at once at the end. You don't notice the cost so much then and the baby's room starts to fill up with all those things really quickly which is nice for mum to be!
best of luck and congrats!

If there will be a baby shower, I would wait to make most purchases until after that - you'll get a lot of stuff! If there is not likely to be a shower, I would start with the following:
diapers & wipes
burp cloths
formula & bottles (if not breastfeeding)
bouncy seat (vibrates to simulate movement of car - best $30 I've EVER spent)
Receiving blankets
CARSEAT (you won't be able to leave the hospital w/o it!)
I would shy away from buying too much 'newborn' stuff... diapers or clothes - the baby won't be in it long enough to make it worth it!
We had a great baby shower, but I started buying diapers (in various sizes), wipes, formula and clothes on clearance as soon as I found out I was pregnant.... my baby is 4 months old, and I have yet to buy diapers!
Good luck to you.... and congratulations!

When I was pregnant, every week when I went to the grocery store I bought a pack of various sized diapers so that I didn't feel such a finical impact when formula also got added to my grocery bill.
Is she gonna have a shower? If she is I would wait to see what she gets then maybe you would know what to go with. I would say as far as absolutly needing things it would be bottles a crib and a car seat at first.

You do not need to be buying every thing now. But you do need to get an infant car seat.(Booster seats are for when they are older)And you should buy a few bags of infant dippers so you have them when the baby comes and some baby wipes. and if she is going to bottle feed you will need some bottles and formula.if she is going to breast feed you should get a breast pump.
If you are going to be having a baby shower have it about two months before the baby is due and see what you get than go from there.
You have a few months yet so you do not need to get every thing right this minuet .pick up a little here and there.
good luck and congratulations. Children are the worlds greatest joy.

Don't wait, you never know if your baby could come early and you won't be ready. Get the car seat, swing, bouncy seat now. The playpen, booster seat, high chair can wait until later.
Other things you will need when baby is born: diapers, wipes, diaper bag, bottles, wash clothes, cotton balls, bibs, hats, socks, soap, shampoo, powder, oil, baby clothes hangers, dreft laundry soap, stain remover, if breastfeeding get your wife a nursing pillow like Boppy or Cuddle-U. That will be her best friend!

totally up to you, the baby really comes home needing the bare minimum car seat food a place to sleep a few outfits and possibly a baby bathtub for convenience. you also have to think when will you have the most available funds to buy this stuff now or after the baby comes.... also you should have a baby first aid with some baby meds in it like mylicon for gas and tylenol for fever that kind of thing.
buy what you can now but dont stress over it
good luck

You should buy everything now so you don't have to rush around when the baby is here. It is always better to be prepared. Stock up on diapers, wipes, baby bath, baby lotion, onesies, receiving blankets, socks, caps, extra crib sheets, bibs, and bottles. Don't worry about knowing the right size or if the baby might be allergic to the diapers and wipes you bought, you can always take them back if they are unopened. Congratulations!!!!!

You need a car seat, some diapers, wipes, lotions/shampoo/powder, a few blankets, formula and bottles if you chose that route, burp clothes, and a swing or glider will come in handy. Check out websites, like babiesrus, and click on the "top registry items" link (or something similar) to see what a lot of people are requesting.

Did they register anywhere? I needed EVERYTHING!! i think the only thing we bought were some clothes and we ended up buying some bottles and the baby monitor. But everyone bought us everything else. We needed everything from the crib, portacrib, diapers, changing table, dresser, room decor, sheets, blankets. A baby will go through TONs of diapers and blankets. i couldnt get enough of either.
