Serious Answers only pls. I am a stepmum to 2 lovely girls. We have a really good relationship & can talk about most things.
They still have regular contact with their Birth Mum, but she's very different to me. In her house they don't have 2 help around the place with any chores, they don't have 2 do homework, they are often sent to friends houses when they're supposed to be hanging out with their Mum because she likes to drink alcohol pretty regularly, they can pretty much do what they want.
In our house, we can seem a bit more strict because we encourage the girls 2 do chores to earn pocket money, we encourage them 2 get homework & assignments done (otherwise they would fail @ school), but we do a lot of fun stuff too - going for picnics, going to the beach, BBQs, we encourage sleepovers at home etc.
I just want 2 know if u were in this situation, which would you appreciate more - a place where ur input & company was valued or a place where u can do whatever u want all the time?

Thanks for the replies i got about 'implantation bleeding' for 3 days. My period was due yesterday so I did a test and it was neg. I was so heartbroken and my poor husband had to pick up the pieces. We have been trying for a year but i just felt pregnant this month.Since my last question I have been feeling sick and little things have been turning my stomach. So when I got the negetive i thought that i was going crazy and imagining my symptoms. Yesterday afternoon I noticed the 'brown blood' (That i thought was implantation bleeding 5 days ago) wasgetting darker so i thought my period was here. I had awful period pains last night, which I dont knormally have. All day yesterday and this moren, no period, just brown. (Sorry) Is there something wrong with me? I am 1 day late for 'real' period and am usually so regular. Sorry for long question, and if you have managed to read to the end, thank you. I think I am going insane!

I will have to say that I agree with drawing the line somewhere but does it have to be so cut & dry. I think that as long as they are to turn 5 at some point during the school year then they should be able to start that year. Maybe they should have a enterance type testing despite of age, some kids are really ready but don't make the cut off where as some older kids are clearly NOT ready but because they meet the age requirement they let them in. Anyone else feel the same way?
Ex : my sister-in-law had twins in 2005. My nephew was born at 11:49 PM on Dec 1 but his sister wasn't in such a big hurry so my neice missed the Dec 1st cut off by 45 minutes, so now she has to wait. Of chorse my Sister-in-law isn't going to start one with out the other so now both have to wait.

I want to make sure my kids have a normal life, but I would like to present religion to them in an objective manner that allows them to choose to accept or believe in it vs. the method I was brought up in. Any tips that have helped you be successful in having normal kids surrounded by religious kids?

i want to start breast feeding again after having to stop due to medication following an injury, my baby is 3 months old and i want to start trying, i read on the internet that i can naturally induce lactation by pump or putting the baby to the breast, the article stated my milk would return in 1-4 weeks...i also read i can get shots of hormones to induce it which takes about 4-13 days....has anyone ever tried either of these options and what were the results? and yes, he still latches on, i wanted to see if he still would since i am considering breast feeding again! thank you in advance

We been married for nearly two years now, and cannot conceive a child. My wife has been in BC pills when we were working abroad 2 years ago and decided to stop on Aug. 2005. After she stopped taking pills, she has been irregular for one year, what i mean is, five months w/o period then one month with then another 5 months without, only last year in September she had a continuous period until now. Another thing was, last Aug, she's delayed by 15 days, and i supposed she was pregnant already, then she had her period on her 36th day, then this month, her period came on her 24th day. Please help.

I have not cramped since she was 4 weeks old. Now she's almost 4 months old and my uterus cramps (almost like the beginning of a pregnancy-cramps). I have had periods, but never cramped through them.... just wondering your experiences?

I am exclusively breastfeeding and this is baby #3.

when she gets mad or upset she pulls her hair out by the handfuls. but if we act like we ignore it she will stop but that is starting not to work anymore.

Tonight i took my four year old to the carnival. When we were there my son hit it off with a couple of boys and ended up playing with them all night. They were very nice and he got along with them great. He doesn't get a whole lot of exposure with other kids, i am a stay at home mom and he doesn't go to daycare...Long story short, at the end of the night i asked her if she would like to let them play and she wasn't overly excited about it, not rude though. She told us her name and said to look her up. Anyway, was it rude of me??

I've seen my lactation consultant and my OB they think it may be a yeast infection. I've been using monistat for 2 days with no improvement and I'm also on anitibiotics given by my OB for a mild case on mastitis for the last day. My nipples and areola are bright pink with clear blisters on the ends. After pumping I also look like I have bruising on the ends of my nipples. Lanolin doesn't help. My lactation consultant said she had never seen nipples as bad as mine and that possibly I'm having an allergic reaction to the plastic from the pump. My setting on the pump is as low as it can go. Now that I have no clue what is going on with me latching on my son is the last thing I want to do. If my nipples don't heal in 2 weeks I'm going to quit.

My house smells really musty, and so does my clean laundry.
Me and my sister are the only one's who can smell it, but for me it's unbearable (makes me want to vomit). Are we smelling something that is not there because we are pregnant or are we the only one's who can smell it because we are both pregnant? What do you think? Has something similar happened to you?

I really want my kids to do well in school, but we live in a pretty bad ghetto where jobs are scarce, and because of some bad choices I made in the past, getting a high-paying (or even a well paying) job is out of the question.

As a father, how can I help my kids rise above their circumstances when I'm mostly just trying to help them survive?

my fiance is really stressed. he was grouchy all day and now he just called from work to say he was sorry for being grouchy, that he is just so stressed out because of work, he told me that he is worried about supporting our family because he is on call for the next three months and he doesn't always get called in for 40 hours. i don't know what to do for him. I'm 26 weeks pregnant tomorrow and we are super excited. We planned for this baby and everything and he is super excited to be a daddy to his son. I work part-time (30 hours) plus go to school full-time. I told him everything would be ok but I just don't want him to feel like this for the next three months. what can i do to help him so he's not so stressed? It makes me sad to see him like this.

i have made my decision already so please dont lecture me here- i already have a priest.
i am 18, on an athletic scholarship in college, and 6 weeks pregnant. if i dont participate in my sport i will more or less get kicked out of school. i need to have an abortion this week. i know the pill is less invasive, but i've heard the surgical one is 'cleaner' in that the aftermath wont be as hard to deal with, and bleeding will be lighter and not last as long. i need to be back and able to play within no more than three days after the abortion. please any input? which should i do?

Ok, I started taking Aug. 25th and took it until August 29th (days 3-7)... I'm now on CD 34 and have no signs of a period. On CD 23 I went to the dr. and they told me my progesterone was 31 and that I definitely ovulated. Here's the deal... I'm one of those people who has been ttc for about 2 years and I used to think I was pregnant every couple of months because my boobs were so tender!!! This month my boobs have been tender twice as long as usual and I had cramps last week and the week before as if my period was coming... but nothing. I've been having nausea off and on... but I just don't know if that's the clomid... can anyone help!!!! Has anyone else had these symptoms??? Thanks! =D
