We been married for nearly two years now, and cannot conceive a child. My wife has been in BC pills when we were working abroad 2 years ago and decided to stop on Aug. 2005. After she stopped taking pills, she has been irregular for one year, what i mean is, five months w/o period then one month with then another 5 months without, only last year in September she had a continuous period until now. Another thing was, last Aug, she's delayed by 15 days, and i supposed she was pregnant already, then she had her period on her 36th day, then this month, her period came on her 24th day. Please help.

I think its very important to know the reason why she is having irregular periods. you shd consult a good gynaec for this as soon as possible and get her hormone tests to see why she is having such irregular periods that are amiss for 5 months altogether. this is not normal. maybe she has some problem like cysts etc which needs medication and can be easily cured. The earlier the better. Even if she concieves, its always safe to hve a complete checkup done to ensure the fact that it is a healthy pregnancy. Good Luck. Visist a doc soon.

Even if her periods come at irregular intervals you can still determine whether and when she is ovulating. The simplest way is by taking her temperature every morning when she first wakes up. At ovulation, the temperature rises a degree or so.
Women's menstrual cycles vary widely, so although the average time to ovulation is about 2 weeks after the first day of the menstrual period, it can take 3 weeks or more.
Using natural progesterone, which is the same chemical that the human body produces, can also help. It comes in creams or a gel that is applied to the skin and can be very effective in promoting ovulation. You would need to consult with an alternative or herbal doctor or practitioner to learn how to use this.
First, though, try taking her temperature daily. Starting with the first day of her next period, make a chart of the days of her cycle and record her temperature each day. See if there is a small increase. Then note whether her period starts about two weeks after that. This will show you whether she is ovulating at least some of the time. Then make sure you have sex at that time!

I'm not a doctor, but she should probably see a specialist, if she hasn't already, but coming from a woman who may not have the exact situation but have had similar, I would say don't give up hope if you really want a child together.
I use to have irregular periods as well for years but it was due to cysts on my ovaries and an underactive thyroid which she may want to have checked. Where my doctor told me that it would be difficult to get pregnant and a difficult pregnancy at that, although part was very true, I actually did have a easy pregnancy.
I will give a couple of suggestions, I dont know if they will work and you do not have to take me up on them, all I can say is that before and during pregnancy I would always come across a website called Selmedica.com where you can order what is called ovulex for women that helps regulate periods and basically what they call miracle grow for the uterus so that a woman is able to conceive. It's all natural. They have something for men as well.
Whether it works or not personally i don't know, but apparently it works for others, but one thing i would definitely suggest is taking some folic acid for her. Straight folic acid. Log on to a website called Swansonvitamins.com and you can find many vitamins for many different things including the folic acid.
My belief is that taking the folic acid is what helped me get pregnant. That may not have been what helped, I don't know, all I can say my son is a miracle for me. I'm the type of person who likes as natural as you can get and vitamins help with that. My son is a very happy content 6 months and 3 week old. I believe a lot of it is due to the vitamins that i took before hand.
So whether this helps or not, I don't know, but all i can say is don't give up hope because it can happen.
Oh, and another suggestion, when your wife does get pregnant, have her go to a chiropractor. Trust me the results you get for your child will be wonderful. Due to my visits to the chiropractor that is one of the biggest reasons I have a very content child.
Well, good luck in the future, it will happen all in due time as long as it's meant to be.

I agree - just go for it, it's bound to happen! Another thing your wife could try is a fertility monitor. They might be a little more tricky with an irregular cycle, but the more expensive ones should tell her when she's ovulating. She might want to make a doctor appointment to check things out, just to be on the safe side. Sometimes such irregular periods could point to a medical issue. Best of luck!

My sister has irregular menstruation she even went a year without her period {without being regain} and she and 3 kids with one on the way so I'd say it's very possible. But I suggest going to a doctor maybe doing same test to see when she will be ovulating. Good Luck ^_^ DJ

You could get home ovulation tests to find out when she is ovulating and try specifically on those days. Even with an irregular period, should could chart her basal body temp and stuff as well. Since it has been 2 years, you two could go to a fertility specialist for testing if you wanted.

I am embarassed to say this so bluntly but...if you do it everyday then it WILL happen eventually. There are three days out of the month when a woman can concieve, but that is a woman who is ovulating regularly. Sometimes women ovulate too much, sometimes not enough. But if you work at it everyday then you are bound to have good luck.

get your wife to put a pillow under her bum every time after sex for 1/2 hour this helps move the sperm up to the egg also if you can make her orgasm after you come inside this will help suck up all the sperm that is sitting in the vagina hope it works for you good luck and just don't stress about it that can cause you not to conceive just forget about it and have fun i know its hard but it does work good luck again

Depends on if she was ovulating- If her period is in a couple of days I am going to say she probably is not pregnant.
