First of all CONGRATS on your pregnancy - I hope you will have a wonderful time as you get ready for motherhood.

I am now 7 months pregnant and all I can say is that I am loving every moment.

I researched this alot when I found out that I was pregnant. People told me that I shouldn't eat that and so on and I wanted to find out for myself what is right and what is not. So
here goes:
What not to eat:
No shellfish, no funny fish (the high amount of mercury is not good for you).
No sushi or raw fish.
No raw or undercooked meat oir chicken
Stay away from raw eggs
Stay away from nuts and things that contains nuts. You might not be allergic to nuts but remember your baby is eating what you are eating and who knows... he/she might just be allergic.
No creamy and soft cheese. Only hard Chedder and Veta and Mozarella
Limit coffee and tea containing caffeine to two cups per day.,
Limit alcohol or better yet - dont drink at all.
Smoking is a BIG NO-NO.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Other than that eat healthily : Fruits and Veggies and Hole grane breads and milk and fresh meat, fish (like hake) is very good for you and baby.

just try and eat very healthy. when i was pregnant i made sure to eat breakfast lunch and dinner and not diet. the baby needs all the nutrients and you have to remember its not just about you right now. drink juice, eat healthy salads and sandwhiches with whole wheat bread, tons of veggies and fruit for snacks, and ofcourse ice cream and chocolate are allowed, you'll probably crave them a lot!make sure to take a multi vitamin with folic acid too. i dont know for sure of anything you cant eat while pregnant, but id assume unhealthy stuff constantly isnt good while you are pregannt just like while you are not. talk to the doc before you put any kinds of meds in your body too, there are a lot of risky ones.
there is a website called motherrisk.org or com or something, it says all the things that are ok and bad for you, check it out.

Stay away from these things: shark, swordfish, king makerel, tilefish, certain types of tuna, raw meat/fish, soft or unpastureized cheeses, smoked or cured meats, cold cuts (deli meats), hot dogs, most medicinal herbs, lots of over-the counter drugs (check on Internet for list), alcohol, cigarettes, over 300 mg caffeine per day, and um, do your own research too.

Congratulations on your pregnancy.

there are a few things to be mindful of (which you're obviously aware of by asking the question) such as some cheeses, pre-packed salads such as coleslaw etc and some seafood dishes.

I found babycenter.com an absolute minefield of information and you can get weekly updates on your body and the baby's development. check it out, it's definitely worth it :)

good Luck with the rest of your pregnancy :)

First Congrats! second for the most part you can eat most foods but fish i would stay away from and i have stayed away from fish while pregnant, just because of the mercury and while pregnant for me it was a no no. they have limits of mercury they say is safe but i just never ate it. (some say fish helped them but it is a debate for some). you know where i stand.
Also Green foods! orange juice! these have high folic acid that help baby brain development and i stayed away from caffeine as much as possible. Everything else is common sense.

make sure you get 5 fruits and veggies a day

get good sources of protein

pure drinks - like water - water - water

abstain from alcohol - smoking - illegal drugs - because what you take
your baby also takes

and walk - walk - walk - that should make for an easier delivery

all the best!

from what i know, eat anything you want! but i believe what you eat and crave affects what your baby likes to eat when he/she grows up. :D my mom ate lotsa french fries and balut (duck embryo. yes im filipino :D) and im onw of the few young generation of kids who likes bulut.

just you no smokey, takey drugs, snort crack, take a swig of them happy smoke or what not.

OH relaly spicy foods. nothing that hurts when you eat. like really sour or spicy. i think spice hurts...>< maybe my mom didnt eat enough hot sauce...haha
