Pregnancy & Parenting - 18 June 2007

Any advice would be great. We are out of ideas and just need some friendly advice how to get our daughter to communicate better to us. Please help. Thank you so much.

my best friend is 8 months pregnat, about a month and a half ago we made appointments to have a spa day and get messages, well her husband died in Iraq shortly after planning this...she told me she still wanted to go and we are looking forward to it, she is very excited. I was wondering if i should call the spa and tell them to tell my friends message theripist to not mention the father. i want my friend to have a nice relaxing day and thats a tuff question when it comes up...or should i not say anything becuase maybe she would like to say it? i'm not sure my first instinct is to tell them ask anything about the baby but do not mention the father?? not sure.

My fiancee and I have been together for 7 years. i know we cant adopt unless we are married. I would love to adopt instead of having our own snice there are so many children without homes. Its so exspensive though. And I would rather not go through a agency since they are was to exspensive!!Is it cheaper to do a private adoption with a young pregnant mother and can you just settle on a ammount? How do you find these types of women? Please help with advice and personal stories.

to make it more clear . she has been going to the bathroom for about a month and 2 weeks. but she sometimes forgets or gets carried away by playing and just uses the bathroom where ever she is . I spank her every time she doesn't tell me she wants to go to the bathroom . am i doing anything wrong or does she forget ??? please help me .

my little boy is two i have a nephew that is 1 1/2 my little boy hits him my nephew never fights back he hit him in the head and throws stuff at him i hit him not beat him but he never stops i know he is two but how do i get him to stop i try to get the lil boy to hit him back he does sometimes but it isint verry hard i am so upset that he does it but i know they are boys they will fight his sister will hit my little boy she is only seven i caint really do nothin to her but tell her dont touch him again how can i make all of them stop without hitting or should i just let them do it ( but im not gonna let the 7 yr old hit either one of them ) what do you think i should do for this ?

Is anyone familiar with these? Have you used one for your baby? How long did it take for them to realize it was food inside? My daughter is 6 months old and we have been trying to get her to use it for about a week now and she is convinced it's a toy. Any suggestions?

He is never normally that much of a sicky baby but yesterday and 2day he has been eating less feed and being sick after his feeds aswell. Just abit of advice would be nice, i am taking him the doctors 2morrow if this continues. Thanx

Hey! My son is 14-months old and he is still throwing down his sippy cup when he's finished with it. He doesn't sit it down, he CHUNKS it to the floor. He even does it when he's in his highchair. He also throws his late down when he's finished eating. He's been on a sippy cup for about 4 months now and has been walking since he was 9 1/2 months. Does anybody have this problem, how did you stop it!? Thanks so much ladies!

Do any of you have the same first name as one of your parents? Ex. My 10 month old son's first name is Robert the same as my husband's, but he is not a junior he has his own middle name. My oldest son has my hubby's middle name as his middle name so we thought it would be wierd to have 3 with the middle name Patrick.

Anyway..on with my quesiton. I was ok with it until he was born and a couple of days later I TOTALLY regretted it! My hushand thinks it is cute because we have three sons... Ross, Ryan and Robby. We have been calling little Robert by his middle name Nicholas. I often want to change my son's name to Nicholas Robert. I just feel he needs his own name..and what will he go by in preschool and school..he can't be Robby forever! I really don't want to make him go by his middle name either..I think it is confusing for everyone. My husband supports me either way

So..my question is..are there any men reading this that have their father's name. Do you like it or hate it

Today I went to the doctor at 10am and got my cervix checked. I'm dilated 3 cm and at 37 weeks. The doctor said they he can't promise me, but things that the baby will be here by the end of next week. I know its normal, but I am still bleeding slightly from the exam still at 3pm.

I am also having what I think are contractions (cramping in my lower abdomen & back pain). I can't get comfortable & can't sleep, but the contractions & back pain aren't as bad as I would think if I was in labor. I don't want to blow them off because I am expecting much harsh contractions, but I have heard stories of people who have waited to long.

Here's the timing of the contractions.
2:29, 2:43,2:46,2:51, 2:56, 2:04, 3:11, 3:17, 3:23, 3:30, 3:37

My daughter is nine months old and all four of her top front incisors just broke through. She got her bottom central incisors at about four months. It seems like she is ALWAYS teething!! How long do I have before the next teeth come in, and where will they be? How long is she going to be teething (how long does it take to get a mouth full of teeth?) Thanks!

Yesterday I was so scared I was really paranoid usually my lil guy kicks me all day long but he hadn't I was crying in the bathroom praying to god that he was ok and asking him to please don;t take his precious lil gift away from me. And then I laid down to calm down and after a few minutes my lil guy was kicking like crazy. Now I know how wonderful those lil kicks are and how important they are. I guess he was just sleeping cause I was up all day cleaning my home top to bottom

I've always been a huge fan of sushi, but now that I'm pregnant, I crave it more than ever. The avocado rolls just don't cut it for me, I want the real stuff. And of course, I can't have it. And to make things worse, I live and work in NYC where I am surrounded by the absolute best sushi restaurants.

Has anyone else experienced such cravings? And what kind of food can I substitute to satisfy the craving without eating dangerous fish?

My kid got a credit card from his aunt (my ex-sister in law) to use freely (limit of 350 dollars) for no apparent reason. This happened without consulting me first. I got mad when I saw he was ordering toys with this card and took the card away. Now I am considered to be the boogey man by both my son and his aunt.

So my question is threefold:

Should his aunt give him those kind of things without consulting me? Should a 14 year old kid have free control over a credit card with almost 400 dollars? Am I a boogy man?
